BC, in reply to your post before - i can only think of Jared Brennan when I see Nic Nat, but my main reservation is the go home factor.

We took Jeff White from Freo and he went to fantastic with the Dees. Imagine the pain of letting a number 1 pick go home, then think about the gay docker mascot and i'd cry.

If we pick him or Watts, it won't make a lick of difference until our Midfield grows some testicles and gets some continuity.

You can't let yourself be handicapped by that kind of thing though, for every Scott Thompson, there are five Jared Rivers' or Daniel Bells who love life in Melbourne.

I trust Bailey and BP to take the best available, wherever he may be from.

There is a thread up on Demonology about a game Watts played in today, apparently he went nicely but was played in the midfield most of the time. I'm very worried about the Lynden Dunn factor, too skinny to ever play in a KPP. I'll murder them if we pick up another 190+ midfielder who never puts on a kilogram.

Went to the Hawks V Bulldogs game Friday night . Buddy will be the key on whether Cats get back to back or not. He is absolutely awesome. Not sure who at the Dees comes closest to being an impact player like him. In the past, Neita at his prime was, Robbo on his day also..e.g that 7 goal game at Kardinia Park couple of yeears ago. Miller was going to be the one, but has faded in past few years. Can't wait for the Grand Final.

I guess this a reasonable point, and from what I've seen he looks like a genuine forward as opposed to a Bate-type of player. It is interesting that he is spending so much time in midfield, I wonder what the reasoning behind it is. I don't think it would be totally related to showing the recruiters he isn't a one-trick pony.

In terms of weight, I'm not certain on Watts. His frame seems somewhat ectomorphic, meaning it may be difficult for him to gain muscle. I'm sure our new Bulgarian fitness coach would be able to assist in that process though

Good to see more Dees fans getting on the Natanui bandwagon.

For all those in the Watts camp, just remember - next year is going to be a very lean draft, and there's a fair chance we'll be getting a priority pick.

If we tell Watts we won't select him at pick 1, he won't nominate for this years draft.

I want us to take Watts, but I'm not totally against Naitanui. I don't think that Rich is that far ahead of Hartlett or Ziebell to be worth taking at No.1 and the other 2 suit our needs better.

But get your facts straight, next year isn't necessarily going to be a lean draft. It will be effected by the rule change around draftee ages (from April 30 move to Dec 31 the previous year) but there is still a fair bit of talent in it. From this years Champs there are already 3 standouts for next year, 2 midfielders (1 from Vic & 1 WA) and a key forward(from Vic), with plenty of time for improvement.

So while the draft pool will be effected by rule changes, don't automatically assume that means it'll be a weak draft. there looks to be plenty of talent around, it just might not run so deep as this year, but there's nothing to say the players at the top won't be as good or better as this year

Rich isn't that far ahead of Hartlett or Ziebell, I think Hartlett is more of a complete midfielder as well, however rich just has that ability to be so incredibly damaging with what he does.
But you would probably have to agree that Rich is miles ahead of the midfielders at our next pick.

Next years draft will not be weak at all, imo it could potentially have more talent than this years, as there are 4-5 players I'd consider for the top pick(Morabito, Butcher, Scully, Lucas and possibly Watts) added to that it has the same or potentially more of the next tier players to be taken in the first round(Crichton etc).

It definitely won't be weak, but I don't think it would be very deep as it has pretty much cut out a quarter of the players set to be taken.
