That was the WORST Buffy episode I have seen. I have no idea why I watched it in its entirety :(

The singing was bad, the songs were bad, the dancing was bad, the storyline was even worse!

The whole thing was bad - AND I LOVE MUSICALS - so thats saying a lot!

Bring back the Vampires and the slaying - and NO MORE KISSING SPIKE. It's just wrong :mad:
 
I turned it off after 10 mins when I realised it wasn't going to get any better, WTF are they trying to do, Angel is much better unless they do the same thing with that this week.

I only kept watching Buffy because of Spike, he is a cutie. :D
 
It rocked....Brilliant television and kudos for seven for showing it in widescreen as it should be....Not the first musical version of a show but done still very original and clever and lots of panache!!!

In the words of Boony Joss Whedon is a ded set legend...

It was just the producers way of saying "Don't take us for granted", they will do the unexpected on that show, and probably have a damn lot of fun doing it.

Lighten up people, it was just a fun episode, SHEEEESH, and you guys say I take everything too seriously
 
This show wasn't supposed to be fun, we watch South Park or the Simpsons for fun, Angel & Buffy are supposed to be scary horror shows & tonights episode of Buffy was a disgrace.

Next thing Stephen King will appear on Sesame Street. :rolleyes:

Of course Buffy and Angel are supposed to be fun shows, they are also supposed to have hard edges with horror elements.

If they weren't supposed to be fun, why does Charisma Carpenter have a ghost as a flatmate?
In the early days why did Wesley play his role as an upper class twat?
Why have an episode where a Buffy robot is made just to fulfill a kids sexual fantasies?
There are lots more examples, these all show humour is a vital ingredient of the make-up and dynamics of these shows.

Or do you HAVE to disagree with me, just because it's me making these comments?

Have it your way Sandie, but I'll continue to watch them because they are fun, and they have some horror elements, and because they are not single layered superficial shows.

You continue in your own world Sandie, I'm sure I'm not welcome there, thank christ
 
I cant believe some of you guys.....i thought it was the best Buffy episode ive seen in a long time. The writing, all songs and music were by Joss Wheden...who is amazingly talented. The comic edge on the songs, the dance routines....it was a blast.

Best buffy episode ive seen in ages!

You took my post to seriously, I was scared in a funny, shocked kind of way! It's not often you turn on Buffy, an acclaimed action / drama of the highest degree, and find them merrily singing and dancing!

Buffy is horror mixed with humour mixed with life metaphors. The same goes for Angel, only the humour is darker and the life metaphors are down-played.

Personally, I thought the Musical was an interesting idea, a novel twist on the theme. If they hadn't done this episode in this particular way, it's hard to see how Buffy's friends would have found out that she was actually in Heaven, not Hell, as they had assumed. And I believe their realisation of that, and Buffy's kissing of Spike will lead to very interesting consequences in weeks ahead.
 
I loved it. It was quirky and fun, and just how I like my buffy. There is no way that Buffy is supposed to be scary horror. It's got the dark elements, and sometimes it turns into a bit of a thriller, which I also like, but it definitely has a lot of light relief, which just make it all the more quirkier, and the reason why it has this sort of cult following. (Okay, i overuse the word quirky. I always do. But this time I mean it.)

And this episode was one of the best I've seen in a while.
 
Buffy and Angel are fun shows, with a lot of issues looked at, and several layers on which the story lines work.
They aint no Citizen Kane, but they are interesting and fun, probably why the shows have lasted so long.

Couldnt agree more....cant wait till next week now with the fallout of the team finding out Buffy was actually in heaven, not hell and finally Buffy getting it on with Spike.

I think Spike is the best character on the show and more screen time he gets the better the show becomes. I love his character and have been hoping that Buffy and Spike would get it on. Should be a good episode this monday!

Spike used to be the best character on the show, now he is just kinda pathetic we have p*ssy whipped vamp NO.2 ladies and Gentleman. Spike has lost all his edge and coolness he once had his character has been going down hill since mid season 5. The whole Spike becoming a good guy because he is obsessed with what he cant have , to me show lack of thinking on the writers parts as to where they wabt the show to go. :confused:
 
I never watch the show, it's just not my cup of tea. But I was a captive audience yesterday as my wife was watching what she had taped on Monday night. And the best way to describe what we saw is the term train-wreck television.

You know it's ugly, but you can't seem to turn away. But somehow, it was so bad-- yet it was bad television (cheesy television, even) done so well. Even Jennifer would agree with this.

On a peripheral note, a friend of mine back in California who happens to know some people behind the scenes at "Buffy" pretty well says that they think (and she knows first-hand as well) that Sarah Michelle Gellar has perhaps "the biggest ego in Hollywood". But does anyone think she would have approved schlock like this? :D

Just checked on http://www.buffy.com and all the messages there say they loved the episode.

but don't worry Sandie, they are back to fights and spells and arguments and (shock horror) DEPARTURES next week

Also, in case you haven't noticed, I am not the only one who doesn't like the way the show is heading, now let's go back to ignoring each other.
 
It was OK. Having seen the Daria episode that was a musical a couple of years ago, this seemed pretty derivative, and I spent the whole episode thinking "Tara, Anya and Giles now get lead roles; isn't it a coincidence that they're only ones that can sing."
 
I thought it was a great episode. I haven't really liked the new season's episodes before that one. I don't even bother watching Angel anymore.
