Me and a few mates are buying a dog. Just want to run past a few of you blokes to see if we are getting snipped on the purchase.

Female $2000

$50 per week training lodging and food and carriage to course.

Prize money (This is where its a bit steep)

First $100 to the Trainer (Fair enough)
then
50 / 50 spit between her and us (this seems steep)

Most trainers train for no training fee if the dog is capable of being competitive. So i would look around. First $100 to trainer then 50/50 is common.

What age is the dog. Has it raced before. What is its name.

You are going 50/50 with the trainer which is reasonable but shouldnt really have to pay $50 a week.

Ok

well what you will be doing is paying for its rearing. Rearing fees are generally between $30-$35 a week. $50 seems a little steep. Once the dog reaches between 12-16 months you get it broken in which will cost you about $50-$60 a week. This generally lasts for a month but can be longer depending on the dog. Then you have to find a trainer. Most trainers wont charge you anything but will train for 50-50 split of all prizemoney. But it depends on the dogs ability.

Join and read through the threads. You will learn a heap.

Be careful as there are alot of dodgy people in the industry that will pray on newcomers. There are also alot of nice people but if you atleast know a few things the chances of being ripped off are minimal.

These pups are certainly well bred and a bargain at $1k. Primo Uno is one of the hottest young sires around. You will not get a better buy at $1k

Speaking of hot young sires, how is Whisky Assassin going? Are any of his pups broken in yet? How are they looking?

After seeing this dog race i became hooked on greyhound racing. Would love to know how much his pups are going for.

Whisky Assassin's first pups are at the breakers at present and we should be getting reports about them in the next few weeks. He certainly was a great dog and I have him earmarked as a sire for the mother of my current pups, probably for her next litter. There's video of him in YouTube if you'd like to see it.
