For those unaware, today marks the day that would’ve been the AFL Grand Final had we been in a normal season.

Fox Footy doing a ‘best finals’ countdown. Currently playing, 2002 Grand Final.

I was 10 years old, it’s literally the only game that causes me as much heartache, if not more, than the 2018 loss.

Saw the last few minutes of the 2011 Prelim earlier.
That rundown by Daisy. What a player he was.

Probably my favourite game of all time excluding the 10 premiership which wasnt as good of a spectacle.
Nothing better than winning by a small margin in a comeback game in a huge game vs a big team.
Last year wouldve been sweet if Mayney had kicked that one in the prelim.

1990, as a young 20yo I remember after that loss to the dogs by 2 pts my uncle's frustration at the loss. That game we were down by about 70pts somewhere in the 3rd qtr. After that loss I just knew, I was so convinced that we were going to win it that year, us and the bomb outs were so dominant that year. Was the same year the dorks toweled us up by 70.

As soon as he was about to let out a tirade, I said the words 'it's ours' with authority - my 'knewing' came to fruition. My first witness to a flag after years of promise only to reveal heartbreak since I was a 7 yo. Especially after 76 from spoon to Flag or so it should've been!

The euphoria was like I'd never felt before and was some closure as grandfather (cousin of Daniel Minogue) passed the year earlier when we were also threatening. It was like justice was served, certainly after the torment he witnessed that was the Harmes incident in 79, boy I thought he was gonna tear the house down he was so angry.

Mix of good and bad, the best bit remembering like it was yesterday - that feeling of 'Finally!'
