WA football has been rocked by revelations East Perth teenager Dean Cadwallader has tested positive to an anabolic steroid, Nandrolone, and been stood down.

Cadwallader, 19, returned positive A and B samples after being tested by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority at a training session with the WA State squad earlier this season.

Results of the B sample were revealed this afternoon.

The prescribed penalty for an anabolic steroid is a two-year ban from the game.

Big news for the WAFL

Pricks, bet me to it. I was working on the Landmark carnival when I found out this story.

STOLE MY STORY:mad::mad::mad::thumbsdown:

EXCLUSIVE: WA football has been rocked by revelations East Perth teenager Dean Cadwallader has tested positive to an anabolic steroid, Nandrolone, and been stood down.

Cadwallader now has the opportunity to make submissions to the Anti-Doping Rule Violation Panel before it makes a decision on whether to enter the athlete's details onto the Register of Findings.

The decision is not expected until July 14.

If the positive test stands, Cadwallader will face the WAFL Tribunal under the WAFL Anti-Doping Code.

The promising midfielder’s AFL aspirations now appear to be in tatters.

I hope he gets the book thrown at him.

Had I not got OP in 06 while playing league footy and headed to WAFL colts in 07 as planned and started taking anabolic steroids like him I too would have been selected in the initial WA squad to take on a VFL representative side after playing a handful of league matches as well and in addition would have been on the radar of several AFL clubs as well.

Hope he gets the 2 years or more

CHEAT!!!

Now, before you all go on a witch hunt and burn the kid at the stake, I'd like to find out what motivated him to do it, or if he had been given the "advice" by someone to do it for recovery??

Please keep posts on this issue in this thread sensible. I'll leave the thread running for now but will close if anyone crosses the line.

Sico, do you know anymore about this than the rest of us?

Stupid, stupid move by Cadwallader. Not sure what motivated him to do this sort of thing but it really is a dumb move. Doesn't help East Perth either as he has been playing quite well for them of late. And with Andrew Lovett set to face court soon, this is the last thing the Royals needed.

I hope he gets the book thrown at him.

??? Ljp's post was sensible. Saying it was a stupid move is true. It was an earlier post that called him a cheat, which, I guess is also true, but the circumstances behind it could be interesting. I presume the motivation was similar to that of Justin Charles, but I don't know.

If you've got something sensible and additional to post here, feel free.:thumbsu::)

Here is a full article on this situation on the East Perth web site:

"League coach Tony Micale said the Club would support Dean in whatever way it could.

"Dean is an extremely talented young man and I applaud him for showing the courage needed to stand before the media," said Micale.
"As Dean acknowledged, he’s made a big mistake and he’s going to pay a heavy price for it. I just want to say, on behalf of the Club and his team-mates, that we can’t condone what he’s done, but we can and will support him in his efforts to come back from this obvious setback to his dream of playing AFL."

I like the sentiment of Micale and the club, we'll support him in whatever way possible. Well done.:thumbsu:

Now, now, before you go on a witch hunt and accuse the kid of making a stupid move,

Umm, he did make a stupid move. Would you call taking a banned substance a smart move would you?

It was a stupid and very naive move to take the substance, regardless of whatever advice he was given. Even if he was persuaded to take the drugs, that won't hold up when it comes to being disciplined.

Who the **** made you a moderator? Stop being a clown and actually discuss the topic rather than making yourself look like an idiot.

Ljp86, try reading the whole thread before firing off a few rounds. It was a light dig at swannies for telling us all to not to go on a witch hunt and burn the kid at the stake when there was just one poster doing that, by my count.

Now pull your ****ing head in rather than making yourself look like an idiot.

Nice backflip. Makes you look even worse by admitting you were having a crack at a mod.

Not a very smart thing to do. :)

But it's like "coaching" my U10 team, I can't say Scott, you're useless why not try going for the ball with 2 hands. I have to say, I think we all need to try and take the ball with 2 hands.:D If you get my drift.

But no harm done because someone else had carded the culprit!;)

Hey, how about that. I have a crack at a mod, he takes it in the same good humour in which it was intended, and I'm still standing.

Meanwhile you go off half-cocked before reading all of the nine posts in the thread, throw a wobbly and look foolish.

Back on topic please.

Well, I'm going to stay off topic Feerit and ask how my mate Luke Miles is going? Would love him back at the Black Ducks but I hope he at least gets to play some AFL games, although it won't be this year.

Sico, do you know anymore about this than the rest of us?

Na I am as stunned as everyone else, just another thing on top of the pile of a bad week that every East Perth/West Coast fan is having!

The only reason (reason and not excuse) I can think of is at the AGM when asked who would be this years Ben Stratton, Micale said Caddy and suggested he has had back problems in the past. Maybe it was in some medication or cream? Either way the kid has made a stupid mistake.

What really bothers me is that some of his team mates new he was doing it.
Where did that come from?
