People actually get offended when they hear people don't like cake, they'll do anything to get you to have a piece, often will just serve it to you anyway

It's because it's a festivity, group thing. Even if you don't like it, suck it up, and eat it.

I liken it to Chinese tradition, where a lot of the big events, like birthdays, are always celebrated with noodles. Even if you don't like it, suck it up and have some, because it's just a traditional way to celebrate.

Any cake that does not involve an awkward rendition of happy birthday sung without gusto to a workmate you don't really care for.

Change the title thread to What's your favourite obligatory cake at work with boring colleagues and you will see I am not alone
