Adelaide now has three spots open on its primary list and every remaining player is contracted.

Well deserved congrats Nutta! Looks like Laird to stay on the rookie list. Tambling contracted, i think he can take Doughty's spot had a very good finish to the year with Sturt.

We could just end up with picks from the Tippett trade. Sydney trade Mitchell or Parker to a melbourne club > Crows profit with high picks, take 3 in the draft.

Note that Callinan's upgrade counts towards the mandatory 3 draft selections, so the status quo remains - we still have 1 position available for trading in a player as part of the Tippett trade. Just means that we're down to 3 vacancies on the list, instead of 4.

Probably. Depends upon the contract - he would have been on more than the standard rookie contract last year, I'm fairly sure.

The only thing that concerns me here, because I am an absolute fan of Nutter, is that his form dipped when Tippetts did. Now it could just be a coincidence, or we need a replacement that plays a similar type of game that Tippett does for Nutter to flourish.

If a footballer relies on a certain type of teammate to be on the field in order to play well then he should not be playing the game. Nutta will do okay whoever is playing in the forward line with him. I just don't buy this stuff that he can only play well with Tippett or a Tippett clone in the side. He did okay with Centrals.

It's not that unrealistic. Most midfielders do a lot better with a quality ruckman in the side. Most forwards do better with quality midfielders in the side. Most defenders do better with quality midfielders in the side. And most crumbing forwards do better with quality KPFs in the side.

Callinan is no different. It doesn't need to be Tippett though. We just need to have a good competing tall forward, one that will bring the ball to ground level and then put up enough of a contest to prevent his opponent from being able to attack the loose ball unhindered.

Walker is a poor choice for this role - he marks the ball too often to give Callinan any chance

This is exactly my point. Walker will not provide the same opportunities as Tippett did for Nutta.

Tambling Joyce, CEY and Grigg are the obvious choices. The latter 3 would then be a massive chance of getting Re Rookied if thats the case.

Salary would remain in our cap for 2013 even if we did this so no point. He is a good depth option. If we get a few injuries a player like this will be vital.

Good news for Nutta.

He played his best football when Tippett was in the side this year. With Tippett out of the side next year, hopefully Nutta will be able to reach the same standard without Tippett in the side.

He's a weapon when playing well, but provides almost nothing when he's not getting the ball and kicking goals. Here's hoping he finds it more next year.
