Just coming from a Hawk poster who knows what it's like to be on the rise. I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing how the team performs this year.

The Burgatron tipped the Hawks to finish 5th before the start of last season. He was criticised by many but boy did he get it right. I think you guys will finish 8th.

Just one thing though, the way some are carrying on is only going to help the team self destruct. When we were in the bottom 4 prior to 07 we didn't even put a target on the number of games we wanted to win. It was more a case of ticking off performance indicators. So all this incredible hype can only inflate the players minds as to where they are really at.

After two spoons and a second last, and no more than 4 wins a season in the last 3 years, I don't think the players are so stupid as to get ahead of themselves based on Judd coing to the club.
Fans on the other hand.........

There are so many good sides and the competition is so tight, I'm hoping we make the 8. Some fools on our site are already bookmarking top 4 and playing off in the big one.

So why do I care about what you guys say anyway?? Really, I don't. I think the comp is better with a competitive Carlton but all this hype is way over the top. Judd is a superstar but there is a long season ahead. If you make the 8 you should be ecstatic.

On SEN, some of you probably heard, when they were analysing who was going to finish where, they had Carlton finishing 4th. It amazes me how people think one person (Judd) can make that much difference.

Anyway, good luck for 08. Very exciting for you guys and us. I think both our sides need to keep a lid on it though, still too young and inexperienced. I was more than happy just making the 8 and winning one pressure final was a bonus at this point.

lol. But the point is you do. It is so painfully obvious.

I haven't responded until now. But I'm a mad football follower. I remember the days of Harmes, Johnson, Cattogio, Maclure, Southby, Hunter, Bussusto, sheldon, Doull. Boy I've totally forgotten how to spell them though. These guys used to play against Lethal, Tuck and co. We had great battles but your mosquito fleet was the most amazing combination I can remember.

In 10 minutes (more often than not in the 3rd quarter) you'd slam 7 goals to finish us.

I have many fond memories vs Carlton. And I would dip into my pocket to help them if it ever came down to them folding (which obviously won't happen), as I did for Richmond.

I can see something special on the horizon for Carlton as I can for Hawthorn. A lot of talent is there and to be frank, I think Ratten is the right bloke and will prove it this year.

So you're right, I do care. What I meant was if you bag the crap out of me or ignore the post, I really won't. Carlton vs Hawthorn has something nostalgic to me. My sis is a Blues fan. So really, I don't want to see you in the bottom 4. I also don't want you to beat us as well.

But the Blues on the rise is exciting, I must admit. The only thing that may work against them is all the press and hype pumping them up. I suppose you can't do much about it. But I hope the players know an enormous amount of work is required just to make the 8. Ratten seems very level headed though. Almost Clarkson type. Postive, can be hard, but is also fair and has a great repore with his boys.
