Does anyone have a possible explanation for Moons so-so form lately?, doesn't seem to be firing yet obviously.

PS. He was okay early in the tribute game, with that long goal he kicked.

Is there a cause for concern at all?

he has been lost without nath
will be ok when nath is back in round 17
needs to spend time mummy

someone told me his back was really screwed and he was even considering quitting after last season. Just what I heard - but I don't actually believe he would quit

utterly out of form. not much else to it. He worked well with Nathan, and needs to re-adjust. Like with any player, one small thing can change this. A big pack mark at the start of the second term against the Tigers will be the end of Mooneys terrible form.

He's not kicking big bags for us, but he's providing a good target and still taking a few grabs. If this is the worst we see of Big Cam then I'll cop it, give him time.

Should just play him as the lead up centre half forward, where in my opinion, he is most valuable, and let him ge his hands on the ball. His tank is underrated. Just remember, he was our Adam Goodes before last year. Its a credit to Geelong that they took the risk to turn him into a focal point.

Thing is - his nothing more than a slightly above average player.

Who has a ripper midfield throwing the ball down his throat.

Geelong have been slightly off lately, which means Mooney is performing slightly off.

Our Midfield became "ripper" because Thompson stopped ____ing Mooney around and got him to stay in the Forward Line which meant our midfielders had direction. So instead of the backline chipping it around and the midfielders just holding it up they got it in quick.

Mooney was in our TOP 5 most vital players for us winning the flag.

I just find it funny a StKilda supporter says he'snothing more than a slightly above average player. So he's in the Riewoldt/Koshitske category

If Mooney is an "above average" player then he is better than the whole St Kilda side...

combined....

twice...

Mooney is so Integral to our Forward Line!!

It doesn't matter if he isn't scoring 3-5 goals a game, he creates 5 goals easily. If he was a Selfish forward like Buddy then he would be right up there.

Mooney has actually been very good in a few games this year despite not kicking a lot of goals,as has Hawkins.Trolls and morons seem to think the only thing a key forward should do is kick bags of 5 or more goals each week. Our forwards help set-up goals, unlike the one you mentioned. It's all "me,me,me" with him.As we saw last night, his selfishness may've cost the DT victory.

moons is terribly under-rated IMO by most none Geelong people. I agree his season has been a bit down so far this year but he has still contributed to the team and has many goal asists to his name as well

Yeah he had a bad game last night and dropped a few marks that he should've held.

But, comparing the first seven games of this year to last year's first seven:

goals/behinds 2007 18.9
2008 14.15

And he's only taken slight less marks, 55 in '07 to 52 so far this year.

So he really isn't that far off it.

Mooney has never been a forward who kicks a big bag - five is his most I believe. His biggest value seems to be when we are challenged. He seems to kick the big goal at the vital junction in the match, something that KK could never do depsite his bags of 8 or so.

Yeah he was crap last night, but who cares?

Jim Boy, I agree with you points re Moons never being a big bag-kicking forward. Yeah, he does seem to kick them when it matters, especially interstate, eg. last year in Adelaide versus Adelaide and a couple of weeks ago versus Freo.
