Toast Cameron Cloke

Wow...

Clokey's body has come a long way from a couple of years ago. I love seeing a thinner Cam Cloke take the kind of marks that he showed he was capable of late last year. He's definately not afraid to lift himself from the ground.

Here's a picture of him then. The full sized image cannot be found, however.

The positives just seem to be stacking up for us at the moment. :thumbsu:

Judging by where is hand is he's impressed with himself I see.

He is looking good, the quicker that bangage comes off the better. Can't wait to see him tear it up in 09

Stevey Browne is looking a lot bigger and stronger

There are a lot of pictures with Walks and Juddy together. Am i the only one who is thinking that maybe they're trying to get the best out of eachother? Following Juddy around may do wonders for Walks.

was thinking the exact same thing when looking through those images...

i dont want to make rash calls here, but Walks if he reaches his full potential no1 will be able to stop him....

has pace/fitness that not many can match, has a leap on him, aggression and flexibility...

Come on Walks show us what we are waiting to see.

Back to Cloke, if we can get 30-40 goals from him this year (2goals per game) that would be a handy foil for the Fev

I noticed Eddie Betts in those training photos. Did I miss where the claim he came back fat and him and Hadley and someone else had to train with the Ants, was refuted?

Well either he was fat and lost it quickly and the club backed down from the one month exile OR it wasn't true. I doubt the club used scare tactics and didn't follow through.

Just remembered, Hammo was the third of that group.

On Cloke, I doubt his ability to take a lot of contested marks when he is the target. He is much more useful coming in to a bigger pack from the side or jumping in a one on one duel from behind IMO. Where he will come in handy as a CHF is in creating the contest and bringing the ball to ground. As we do not have a dominant CHF and Cloke, Kreuzer and Fisher will rotate through there, I can see the logic in Burgan's call that we will get Yarran with Pick 6. Imagine Eddie and Yarran at the feet of Fev and/or Cloke ... sure to be some crowd pleasing going on there. If Yarran can also play taller like Medhurst, then he might pay his own way. We certainly need some variety up forward and specifically some pace and x factor. We really don't need more lead/mark/kick forwards.

Not sure I quite agree with that (contested marks), but you do make some valid points with the rest of it.

The other interesting part of that forward line setup will be what Walker's position in it is.

I just think Cloke is better at taking the surprise mark where another forward is getting more attention in the pack. As a CHF he will be expected to hold marks where a CHB has him as his main focus. Different situation and infinitely more difficult. I just want him to create the contest and bring the ball to ground whenever he can't mark it.

Don't care how fit he his - or what he looks like - AFL footy isn't a body building contest - and C Cloke as much as he has a crack and is a good trier is a middle of the road AFL player, with 2 years max left on our list why the likes of Kruezer, Hampson and Warnock further develop.. Simply he is a battling undersized AFL ruckman whi has neither the ability, smarts or mobility toplay as a permanent fwd at AFL level. I love Clokes attitude and his work ethic is admirable but that doesn't change the fact that if we are going to be a good side capable of playing and winning fianls Cloke won't be in our best 22 period.....

Thanks.

I trust the thread starter was appropriately taken to task for the almost slanderous thread about Eddie?

Lucky C4 was on patrol that day:

LMAO !

Not only would Caroline Wilson have more of a clue as to whats going on inside our football club than Westy's_Warriors ....

I'd be willing to bet that she's probably also much better looking.

:)

But Westy didn't back down:

Guys, believe me if you want or not but it is absolutely guaranteed that Eddie came back with around 22mls of skinfolds higher than what his targets were set at. I have no need to make things up and couldn't really care less if u think im making it up.

Any other questions or details you're curious about:

PS I figure it's ok to discuss Eddie in the Cameron Cloke thread because there were quite a few posts about Cam in that thread :)

........because you have seen so much of him playing as a forward at AFL level to make this call?

Ability - time will tell.
He has the mobility - ruck mobility > forward.....and mobility in the ruck wasn't his problem.
Smarts - Was recruited by the Pies as a forward, but again, time will tell.

Cloke is still very young. Why are you so desperate to write him off?

Don't get your hopes up for Hampson, cloke will play CHF and do it well. Browne will take over Bentick as an inside onballer. Man Craig Bradley still looks fit! He must be about 100 years old by now!

BB I hope you're bookmarking all these posts to bump after Cloke kicks 40+ goals as an effective foil for Fev playing as a permanent KP forward in 2009 ;)

Harvey looking up to the only man who could have possibly played AFL football for longer than he did ;)

As if I would bookmark a thread and bump it just to make someone look silly............

Feel free to bookmark birdbrain - as C Cloke isn't gong to kick 40+ goals in his career let alone in 2009 as a foil for Fev....

Maybe people should stop seeing average players through rose coloured glasses just becasue they were a Carlton jumper and be a bit more realisitc in thier apprasial of players.....
