In all seriousness, Kelly and Chapman couldnt captain because they dont naturally ooze the leadership that Ling does.

Ling WILL captain Geelong when King gives the captaincy away (hopefully next season).

Personally I think you're selling Chapman short, he's a real little roughnut, good with the 1 percenters, the kinda guy who leads by example.

I believe you are right saying Ling is the ideal candidate though. Even if Ling didnt get the gig, you can't have too many players who exhibit leadership throughout the park.

Chapman doesn't have the same presence, u can tell in the rooms b4 and after games, during training that Chappy isn't captaincy material.

Ling and King are the only 2 capable IMO, Chappy, Ablett, Harley, Scarlo are all leaders in their own right - but not sufficient to hold down the captaincy.

Hopefully Ling gets it though. Good bloke, lovely hair and proof that you dont need to be the most athletic bloke, as long as you have a lot of G & D. Loved him at the Brownlow last year.
