Imo, "off his ****" infers "on drugs" being smashed is a different thing altogether.
Same horse, different jockey.
Off season he's a free agent and can do what he likes as far as I'm concerned.
Can take up voodoo and speak in tongues if it floats his boat.
I'm no moral crusader.

Clokey can't squeeze him out, he's under contract and will be paid out in any case... unless of course being paid out comes under this year and not next year?!

it's sad that there are some jokes on here at Cam's expense.
Also sad that I laughed at some of those jokes too.

Seriously, I feel sorry that this happened to Cam and I hope they catch the low-life that did this but the fact that I'm laughing at the jokes indicates my low regard for him as a player.
get well soon Cam but I do hope that the next time you are in the news you will be referred to as "ex" Collingwood player.

Off season was it? Still, I would prefer our players to steer clear of drugs and especially for Wood to get his mind and body on track to become a competitive part of our best 22. He more than any one else on our list has let us down, if had turned into the player we had all hoped we would be in a far better position than we are now. 204cm and 107kg what a waste.

Can't have been anyone that follows the sport. Typically, 'hit an AFL player cover yourself in glory' is the motivation behind such attacks. But anyone who actually follows this sport would know such kudos would be more readily forthcoming for beating up a school girl in these circumstances.

Clearly an NRL fan responding to some sort of 'don't you know who I am' type remark from Wood. Probably expected a decent fight he could tell all his western Sydney mates about after, only to be shocked and disappointed by the sight of such a big man curled up in the fetal position crying after the initial exploratory jab.

Considering how tight the cap is, I dont think paying him and not playing him is an option. In fact its downright idiotic.

I do not think he should ever play for us again.

Whatever our salary cap situation, his position on the list is now covered.

So what's the point of having him hang around? In case a catastrophe occurred and injury befell upon the players ahead of him on our list?

I'd rather send a message that 'mediocrity and poor on-field attitude will not be tolerated'.

You have to actually do something wrong before getting sacked. Whilst I understand your sentiment it is nonsense to sack a contracted player just because hes been disappointing.

Yep, agree with the bolded part.

I'd describe Buckley (S), Dawes, Daisy, and Clarke as being disappointing in 2012. None of those should be sacked (if contracted)

But Wood is different to those. Wood makes no effort. I was very open minded about Wood up until the GWS game this year. That was his big break, an opportunity against a weak opposition to impress the match committee. I watched him live. For about half a quarter of footy I just watched him and nobody else. I watched where he ran to. I watched how he chased. I watched him get to the contests. I watched how his team-mates treated him (literally like a witches hat, they just run around him - nobody passes to him). I watched how the opposition treat him (no respect). I watched how he minded his man (he didn't). I concluded that he was totally disinterested. He just doesn't want to be there. And that, IMHO, is sack-worthy.

Totally agree. I would imagine the club are waiting to see what pans out over the trade period before dropping the axe.
