Settle down Merv it was a simple question with a sentence or two answer, he didn't want you to write a report about it.
Some people don't spend as much time as people on Bigfooty as others, and would not search high and low for an answer, when someone could explain it in five minutes.
I read and very much appreciate the Bendigo reports too, but they are long and I can see why some would not have the time to read them.

I was for his acquisiton some 18 months ago but now find myself completely against it. We were in the process of delisitng some Haynes, Alvey and Cupido and thought he could provide a little bit for a couple of years until we get some quality kids.
Right now im more interested in seeing if Dyson, Winderlich, Dempsey and co can capitalise on their unquestionable ability and be 10 year players for the club. I see in no value in picking Campo what so ever.
We have far too many players around his age and experience fighting for too few a spots. JJ, Pev, Heff, Campo, MJ, Bolton. I would like only the Johnsons to be our list next season....

Gotta say I wouldn't be to fussed on Campo coming back in, especially with JJ to come in also. I was for his acquisition also and still stand by it, but Winderlich, Lovett, Watson an co are a lot more consistent and I think we have a good balance of speed/ball winning and experience/youth
it is round 4 and we are already talking about playing the kids. we want to make the finals don't we???
we had 11 players playing who had played just 50 games or less on saturday. maybe that was the reason for the fade out.........
if campo is fit we need his skills and experience in the side.

how does not rating CAMPO as highly as you do equate to me thinking that we should throw away the season and play kids ????
I am simply stating that OUR kids are equal to CAMPO and should now be placed well ahead of him at the selection table..........

He was sub-standard on for Bendigo on the weekend....better off giving young player chance to develop into long term prospect. Has seen his best days
i thought that he was pretty good on the weekend.
our youngsters have plenty of time to develop. campo is ready to play senior footy and he should at least be given the chance to prove that he is still capable of playing good footy

Which kids have shown more than Campo apart from Winderlich?
Where were they last year when Campo was out?
I'm not fussed either way if he plays or not. What I care about is the best players being picked.
If Campo is playing the better footy then he should be picked. I hope alot of these kids pass him by this year because it will mean we are progressing very well.
I still believe though that his experience and kicking skills will be valuable throughout the year as it is/was our major downfall last year.

of course, totally agree but get 10-15 games into a youngster to teach him a thing or two and think towards the future. You give 10-15 games to an overpaid reject who will end his career if not at the end of this year the end of next and you waste a good opportunity to blood some youth.

If he's not up to it you could do more harm than good, look at Kepler Bradley and Josh Kennedy, could both have done with more time in the VFL. You play kids when they are ready or you could go backwards.
kennedy is being starved of good ball because of fevola... there is also a confidence issue with him, not him but the boys using him as an alternative to fev. The step between AFL and VFL is huge, i know it is a poorish example because he is going to be a star (all signs are looking good) but take Bryce Gibbs. What his first NAB cup game and he looked lost. Did some good things, but only a hand full. But the last couple of weeks playing on a half backline he has been able to pick up the pace and learn the game well. The half back flank is possibly the easiest position to play (if there is one) and playing a young bloke there they are able to learn the game very well.
IMO, he played quite well for essendon on the weekend, leave Dyson in the side. Let him run off the half back and I reckon you will end up with another mcviegh style player from him!... just put him in the side and leave him there! oh and give him game time!

Not bagging Kennedy, he should be good in the future, but he too could have benefited from playing a little more in the VFL over the last 18 months, could have helped with the confidence aspect you alluded to. Kepler is the same, could easily have benifited with more time in the VFL, unfortunatley like Carlton with Kennedy, we really had no alternative, but I believe by playing them both too early have set them back a little and hindered their growth, it's easier said than done to throw a rookie in for 10-15 games and expect them to be better, Gibbs on the other hand, seems ready, some would be, some wouldn't be.
