I've seen the term 'frontrunner' being mentioned a number of times on these boards and I was wondering if someone could clearly define it?

As a suggestion, are you able to nominate 2 frontrunners at your OWN club to give me a clearer picture.

1.
One that is in a leading position in a race or other competition: the front-runner for the presidential nomination.
2. A competitor who performs best when in the lead.

I define a front runner as someone who dominates when things are easy (eg. playing against poor opposition) but goes missing when things are tough.

Also known as a down-hill skier.

Basically means does well when the team is firing but is rarely ever the one to stand up when the team needs someone to lead by example.

Plays well when the team plays well, ie carried, but never lifts a side or turns a game.

eg Tim Clarke

they were all found out the following year against decent opposition.
2001 GF. But again, lets not let facts get in the way.

Wait, you're saying the 2001 Hawthorn side that made a Prelim wasn't decent opposition?

check the original post by skipper, refers to the 2000 premiership side, I pointed to the 2001 GF side...playing against decent opposition this time the frontrunners were found out...pretty simple.
