Give Number 17 to our first draftee each year

that would be awful IMO, just because you would never get anyone wearing 17 who would actually do anything worthy enough wearing it to deserve getting their name on the locker.

A lot of tiger greats have worn 17, it would be a pity to see no one achieve anything in it again other than the odd Rising Star

but wouldn't that kid want to make a number his own (apparently you cant do that with 17 )

seriously though, I'd bench it for 5-10 years. Comes across a tad cheap to be reserved for only the capt one year, and given to a mostly unproven 2-3 year kid the next. Similar to Richo and 12 (for the opposite reason). He wanted 12 back in circulation ASAP so it didn't carry too much a burden for the next kid, I think we need to rest 17 so it will mean something other than being the fish John West rejected for the next kid.
