It's time to pendlise!!
Not getting enough love on this board. On an unbeaten run and has led from the front in each of the games.

Question is - when does Mick Maxwell make way on a more permanent basis?

I agree, Kris Pendlebury has been a great captain of the VFL over the past few weeks.:p

Oh yeah, and Scott wasn't too bad yesterday either.:D:p

As for Maxwell making way as captain, I think the style of AFL has evolved now where you need more then one leader on the field anyway, and the captain is just the nominated man, not the actual "best leader".

Maxwell can stay captain, we have a great leadership group which is so much more important then one man.:thumbsu:

Maxwell should keep his captaincy till he retires. I have pretty strong views on his leadership and rate it as highly and influential as anyone elses in the league. Rate his leadership right up with Tom Harley. Have not been a fan of his form at all this season to the extent. Played like an AA last season, but this season he seems to be slowing down when everyone else is speeding up. As Matty said below being captain is about leadership, not being our best player (ala Dane Swan).

As for Pendlebury in my view he should be our next captain. No Doubt. He is a professional in everything he does and leads from the front.

Recent talk has been on Harry O'Brien being a chance, he is a fantastic leader in his own right but Pendlebury is far better captain material.

Eventual leadership group of (in order):
Maxwell (Fantastic captain and since Buckley's retirement was always my choice for captain. Not a natural talent, but has worked hard for everything he has achieved in this league. Leads from the front, does the team things and sets the example. The ideal captain for any club. Has all the attributes its fair to say)
Pendlebury (The perfect 10. While he has all the natural ability of a star player he does everything right. Leads, develops his game and is in my view our future captain after Maxwell leads us to a flag)
O'Brien (Every season has taken steps and this season has really shown fantastic leadership with the ever willingness to do the team thing.)
Ball (Was captain of St Kilda and leads Collingwood fantastically. While not currently in the leadership group he should from next season. Head over the ball, always does the team thing and is a perfect locker room role model. Does everything right)
Shaw (Very vocal around the club and on field. No really the figure head who I would want necessarily representing the club. Has done some undisciplined things in the past but is no doubt deserving of a position in the leadership group because of the way he leads from the front on and off the field).

*Other names can obviously be mentioned. But I consider this to be the standout group in terms of leadership and captain material*

The man Ooooozes with class :)

when under pressure he makes his own time and space to look for options and 9/10 will hit a target. Buckley-Vision-Esqe.

and, nah leave maxxy as capain. he still has better leadership qualities.

maxxy is good cappt but avg player with our depth thats a big risk to have now if maxwell starts playing like shit

I actually really like Maxwell as captain after doubting the choice early on.

Having said that, my choice initially was Pendles, and still stand by that. Kid is a star, and it would have been great to have a 21 year old captain keep that role until his mid 30s.
