Do these clubs' tax breaks disgust you?

Look at Postcodes, the habitual troller getting all upset when 'his' club gets called out for its tax dodges. Doodums, you'll be right - there'll always be pokies (and injecting rooms) for you in Poormond by the looks of it. Did you read the article, Postcodes? All good with you it seems. What a pathetic troll.
This whole thread is a troll scratchy🙄

Troll? Facts are facts postcodes, though it’s plain that that’s a foreign concept to you

So why do you think you're entitled to be all high and mighty and comment on the decisions they make for their own life?

Calm down son you'll bust your boiler. I'm neither high nor mighty.

Carlton has a very low ethical standard among its wealthy supporters with people like Pratt and Elliot involved.

Don't be surprised that the club engages in morally indefensible conduct.

It's one thing to fly the flag for your side but whiteknighting the pokies industry? They won't **** you bro.

Pokie addicts
Horse addicts
Alcohol addicts
Soft drink addicts
Food addicts
Fitness addicts
pr0n addict
Drug addicts

The common denominator here is addicts. Maybe its not pokies. Maybe its not alcohol. Maybe its not drugs. Maybe its the common theme addicts.

Stop whiteknighting addicts. They wont * you bro

A little bit of personal responsibility goes a long way. Its not always someone elses fault. Easy way out.

Seems like those 4 clubs have a lot in common. Maybe they should band together and form a cartel.

I enjoy gambling. I don't drink much and don't really have any other vices.

But I'll put 50 bucks in and if I lose it so be. I walk away. And if I win I take my winnings and I'm happy.

I've placed exactly 1 bet on the nags in my entire life. I can't think of anything more boring that watching horses running around a racetrack. And the pokies? Forget it! I was in a pokies dump in Hampton a couple of weeks ago just to take a p*ss - what a sad, soulless environment.

Each to their own but I find most things to do with gambling incredibly tedious or even painful - I've been in Crown Casino twice and I have a hard time imagining somewhere I'd less rather be in - flashing lights and colours and blaring noise all over the place. Based on that limited experience, Las Vegas would be my version of Hell.

It's only bearable with a few mates and drinks. Otherwise it's boring and soulless.

Activity with high costs and big time investment would collapse without a source or income. I am shocked. Any more pearls of wisdom?
Look youre right its a statement of the obvious but hes fundamentally right too.

Horse racing is IMHO a beautiful sport with some wonderful tradition.

Horse are amazing animals and played a huge part in transforming human civilisations. Stories like Alexander taming Bucephalus and Darius election by horse embody their significance.

Sadly nobbling and cheating goes back thousands of years as well (eg the Darius story) and our racing industry is very broken by deceit. Most of it centres around gambling.

Footy got by without gambling. The money from gambling is nice as the money from tobacco was nice, and the money from grog js nice. We can do better though.

The Pies and many other clubs do well without gambling income. Don't tell me Carlton can't organise their finances better, they are very well connected.

There's a couple of worms got in on the Carlton board. You can clean them out and set the club straight.

...and yet real sports somehow manage to survive just fine
Other sports cost to entry to participate is $100-$500. Racing cost to entry to participate for one horse is more like $30-$50k. The cost to entry is more threatening to its survival than loss of its main source of income. No shock racing needs to generate more income to cover these costs.

What is the difference between dropping money on membership, attendance, apparell, memorabilia compared to gambling?

AFL would be screwed without advertising. No advertising no big TV contracts. Advertising is just as much a gamble for customers as horses - who know if there is going to be a ROI.

What other sport contributes as many jobs? Independent report reveals Victorian Racing Industry contributes $4.7 billion to state economy

Racing owns that much land they would just need to shut clubs and go smaller if gambling was phased out and any decent horses would get quickly sold overseas but they would be better than Netball and Hockey and other minnow sports still.

Its a long post and in another setting I may have responsed differently but as we're on Bay13 all I read was 'I suck at reading form and want to dictate how others spend their own money'
