Carlton have Ackland and Cloke so they don't need to play junior ruckmen at all.

When you compare the 2 clubs they have a number of players who are considered past it on their list still because of contracts i.e. Ackland, Saddington & Houlihan. We have our players that are considered past it/not up to it on our list as well i.e. Tivendale, Hyde & Pettifer. The difference between the 2 is we keep bringing ours back when we drop a kid, Carlton don't.

Ackland? Come on now... Even Cloke is nothing special.

My tip is that Tivendale and Pettifer will not play another denior game this year unless there are injuries. They had their go and failed.

I think we'll ease some of the kids into the team over the next few weeks and everyone will be happy. Like I said, I don't see (at this stage of the year) much benefit in playing kids for kids' sake.

What has been the benefit then of playing Tivendale, Hyde & Pettifer then?

The thing is Richmond have a good youth list and like someone meantioned earlier, our list isn't necessarily better than yours but i do beleive you learn tenfold as a young player playing in the firsts than playing in the seconds. It is early days yet however I am very happy we have Ratts as our coach and give him credit for holding his nerve and not reacting to losses by dropping the Youngsters and slowly but surely i am seeing a future. Russell, Griggs, Kreuzer, Setanta, Bower, Hampson would all have struggled to keep their positions in many sides, but Ratts has stuck to his guns and kept playing them. I had my doubts as well but now see the wisdom of his ways. All this is only possible by having some stability throughout the club pulling in one direction which we lacked for a few years and i for one am happy about it. :)

Agree to some extent, but isnt Setanta nearing 27?

Beaver summed it up perfectly, they are at least giving their kids an opportunity to show something at AFL level

Richmond are the #1 team in the AFL for getting games into kids - fact (as quoted by Terry Walace on FC).

It's not about debuting an 18yo for a week... it's about playing your U21yo's week in, week out, then watching them develop into a strong core group as they reach the 23-27 age bracket.

In 3-4 years our 23-27yo's will be the most experienced "core group" of players in the entire competition.

Terry is coaching beautifully ;)

Why all the hype at Tiger land ... in the last month u have beaten Melbourne, beat Port who lost Salopek, Bour and Chad during the game, got smashed by Sydney and creamed by the Crows.

I have a feeling u guys will come crashing down to earth this week

That was not my point you Dolt! If your best come back is to insult then let us all play and lets start your own thread " why people call you a knob head? "

DOLT! :D
Sorry, I just found that very amusing in an ultra-conservative, Seventh Day Adventist sort of way...

Was it the same feeling before the last week's game against the Bombers where you guys fell in a shit heap at 1/4 time and couldn't recover?

I don't agree with the op I think the Tigers and Blues are pretty similar in regards to how far ahead they are. We are about the same level the advantage you guys have is you have more experience on your list. As is the case in point last week against the Don's our kids got smashed after two good weeks of footy. I think the Tigers will win on Saturday by about 20 - 30 points. It has nothing to do with how good are kids are etc, but everything to do with experience. You have quite a few who have played over 130 games we don't it's as simple as that. Anyway good luck guys for Sat and hope we get over 95K at the G
