Brisbane

If you don't ask the question ...

then
you don't know. Hope they don't get it, but nothing wrong in requesting AFL consideration for a priority draft pick.

Carlton

If you don’t ask the question ...

then
you don't know. Hope they don't get it, but nothing wrong in attempting to negotiate with the AFL a pointy-end draft compo pick should they lose Murphy as a free agent.

Sliding Doors is my biggest hate-reading thing each week. Barrett is so bad at his job.

That's what happens when you want to 'believe' something so much; you can actually manufacture an idea into a fact.

Bit of a slur on Murphy, the club and the AFL in the one bite.

He's essentially just summarised his earlier article in those 2 points. What a lazy bugger, at least try and be original instead of thinking what you write is so insightful you need to put it up twice in the same week.

Haven't read any of that crap since the beginning of the season .

Kane Cornes is just so funny.
Asking people to ring in with what they'd rather do than to watch Carlton on a Friday. So clever. So funny.

What a choice we have on SEN now? Whateley or Cornes?
Ratings going to be through the roof. What are SEN doing?

It's not even what these bozos say, but the way they say it and the slime behind their words. Awful presenters.

KB and the Doc had some journo on last night talking about how he's done an in-depth analysis of the Friday night audiences over the first ten rounds of last year vs this year. Came to the conclusion it was a 20% drop off. Now, I dunno about you, but getting the average audience numbers for ten games, and then working out the percentage change....not really what I'd call "in-depth".

The whole time I'm thinking:
- I bet last week everyone would have been frothing at the idea of Melbourne vs. Adelaide before the game, Perfect Friday night fixture, you'd assume...
- Gee, I wonder if the audience numbers for Channel 7 footy are down for all games, not just Friday nights...
- How do the numbers for Carlton games stack up against the other games played on Fridays, is Carlton the issue at all...?

Then, lo and behold, KB asks the question.

"I'd be curious to find out what the numbers are for the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon games on Channel 7, mister journalist, did you include those in your research?"

"No, I focused my research solely on Friday nights."

So you did less than half the bloody job then, you peanut!

Then the conversation turns to other games. Melbourne vs. Adelaide a specific example. Gets brushed off very quickly, that was an outlier...

Seriously. How bloody hard is it for someone with a profile to do a proper review of this issue. Take the spin out of it, look at it from all angles.

Is the fixture the issue, or is the spectacle of the game causing a universal drop-off in viewers?

I understand someone like Kane Cornes coming at it from an antagonistic, biased position - he's a cretin who can't form a cohesive thought without someone drawing him a picture first. But surely there is one genuine, honest-to-goodness, sensible, accountable journalist or media figure with the integrity to give this issue the respect it deserves, instead of jumping on the bandwagon with all the other clowns.

My uneducated opinion - there are about 3 games each week that end up being "worth watching". And they're not easy to predict.

After listening to sen for many years, i now dont. Id rather listen to nothing. Its a time for know alls or washed up has beens to try and sway the country of their delusions. I much prefer listening to The Carlton Show with Andy, Baz and Gecko once a week. Thats the only sen thing i now relate to.

Spot on there BB, taking all possible explanatory variables into account when doing cause and effect analysis is so fundamental. For the journo to suggest he didn't consider other nights' attendance because his focus was on Friday nights' is so laughable.

I'd prefer my journalists to stay out of any form of number crunching exercises, and stick to actives more native to their industry, like hit-pieces on the latest out-of-form coach, and articles on hypotheticals of the same free agents every week.

And wasn't that peanut introduced as the TV media expert or some such baloney?

Mike unfortunately that doesnt help with watching AFL through kodi
Once you download Kodi, google how to install the AFL add on. Can be a little bit of a root around but worth it once you've got it set up. I now use Kodi on the laptop and HDMI it to the tv for all Foxtel games.

Someone should of given him a call and said, I would rather watch you go on a date with Katherine Knight

Once you've got Kodi installed, the process for adding the add ons is the same, regardless of the platfrom (phone, tablet, PC).
Google is your friend. There are a few tutorials around, some a little easier to follow than others, but that could depend on your tech-ability.
