Sam McClure (if you would call him a personality, but Carlton supporter none the less) just teed off on Steve Quarterbrain and his comments on Whateley's show this morning. Basically played a clip of Quarterbrain from April 30 saying he wasn't worried about Carlton and their list build and then saying the complete opposite 20 days later today. Short memories these people.
Good work Sam

Let' get some balance back in the discussion

Zac Fisher is the top AFL teenager — and already matching it with Blues’ leaders

'This season, former Essendon player and Carlton development coach Brent Stanton has started taking Fisher to Bombers games to watch and analyse Stanton’s former teammate Zach Merrett.'

Now that's a development coach really doing his job and leaving no stone unturned. Pleased to see that.

I don't think they are that wrong to be honest. I'm generalising but the fans who regularly read and post on sites like this are a bit more informed and engaged than your average Joe or Jane. Those fans are usually just standard social media users (FaceBook etc) and for lack of a better term are fair weather supporters. They might buy the membership each year but their engagement doesn't go too far beyond basic understanding. They form a vocal minority and aren't afraid of vitriolic posts online before disappearing until the next match.when journos are talking about fans, those are usually the ones they are referring to, and rightly so - they are usually the most fickle with their purchases of memberships and are therefore a concern.

Good post.

We sometimes forget the average bloke who watches footy simply thinks "Blues are still rubbish..its been 15 years!" he doesnt have the time or the want to understand what the clubs actually trying to do.

Why hasn't Judd met with Fisher yet. C'mon Judd get around him and introduce yourself.

Exactly the player I see him becoming.

At least Healy, Roos, and Brown “On the Couch” had a reasoned discussion about out plight and referenced our injuries and our lack of depth to cover.
Certainly very different to the AFL360 view.

Wouldn't have thought so. Fisher is 19 and probably intimated to approach. Anyone else see this as strange?

I mean your post read as though Fisher was Judd's idol instead of Judd being Fisher's idol.

Sorry if this has been posted. Pretty good article that provides some balance and shows how young our list is.

Carlton is three years into its rebuild and many would expect the third to be the year where things start to trend upwards, but that’s simply not the reality with this list.

Recruiting manager Stephen Silvagni, head coach Brendon Bolton and CEO Cain Liddle all seem to be on the same page saying this is a five to seven year rebuild and it’s easy to see why when you look at Carlton’s projected team for 2020.

I’m tired of the bashing of our club.

It is easy to take pot shots, especially if you are in Australian sports media.

It's cultural of where we are, other countries still get the criticism but the reasoning is much more reasonable than the knee jerk reactions we see here.

Caro and Lloyd actually funny tonight ATM.

Juddy in vintage form showing them up with knowledge (mean age average) whilst delivery a firm 'unacceptable' line for Sunday’s game.

I also personally like how he handled the 'rolling contract' about Bolts. "He is guaranteed next year". Also that it’s a smart way of doing it and the reasons why it works for us compared to other clubs.

I very rarely get stuck in to the media, but FMD the beat-up over the last couple of days is a disgrace. And I know it's a cliche but it's genuinely just a constant media beat up.

It's phenomenal that some former players and people that sit behind a desk to give their 'respected' opinions on football can possibly come to the conclusion that the position we are in at the moment is unhealthy, especially seeing we had our first win of the season a mere 9 days ago.

Granted our win loss tally is horrendous, but that is expected when you lose the amount of players that we have so far this year. Gibbs and Docherty alone would give us ~60 disposals a week last year and losing Murphy for 6 rounds leave us with ~90 disposals out of ~300 per week (30%). That is an incredible amount of disposals that you need to find from a group of players, let alone young midfielders. Add that to our long injury list.

I'm baffled how these paid 'professionals' such as Gerard Whateley (of whom I had a good opinion of) can come to these conclusions.

Too right, the day I stop supporting the Blues is the day I give the footy away altogether.
Just got to try and ignore those muppets.

Our enemies are quietly, mortally terrified that we might finally be on the right track to a sustained period of success. They desperately want us to fail, and throw that kind of sh!t out there in the hope that it will become a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Our enemies would like nothing better than to see the panic merchants within the club lose their sh!t, take control and sack Bolts, then throw away a king's ransom to replace him with Roos, or someone of his ilk. SOS to be shown the door and replaced by someone of Rogers' caliber.
No way.

**** em, **** the lot of them.
Well that’s a laudable attitude for you to have.
But the club needs to attract and keep a new generation of supporters.
Young ppl don’t want to support losers.
Carlton needs to revolt against the AFL.
It’s “socialist” system is slowly turning our previously great club into a version of St Kilda.
