Little write up in the snap shot column in the age today about Will Hayes. Nothing major, just recounts his 3.00 a.m. starts before his day finished at training. Also tells the story about him being kicked by the horse and missing vfl games.

Sellers used to s**t me a bit, but then I started listening to Grandstand AFL as I'm working weekends at present. He's effusive when a side deserves it, and gives a whack with a bit of relish when they don't. He's also one to allow a match to set its own narrative instead of going into one with a story already written, something that I find is very frequently done on the TV coverage (whether fox or Ch.7).

He also gives the impression that he at least watches every game, as opposed to some of the senior citizens in footy circles at present that provide a rent a quote service based on their former positions within the game.

Impromptu of nothing, Mick Malthouse is also on Grandstand...
Good friend of mine was coached by him. Very genuine tough and honest guy. Loves him and my friends an old pies supporter. Sellers is great value.

Poor Plowman - couldn't help but have the following thoughts to his answers

Young: "What are your plans for tomorrow, mate?"
Plow: "A lovely sleep in"
My thoughts: Not sure why Plow is tired. He was asleep the whole game.

Young: "What's your favourite utensil?"
Plow: "Spork. It's versatile"
My thoughts: Shame it's only the spork that's versatile.

No love for the plow

Harry had an extended stint on afl360 last night. Talked about;

  • The Geelong game.
  • The enjoyment both him and Charlie get from each other's success.
  • Catching up with Nick Riewoldt (co host) about four years ago for a discussion about forward craft.
  • The influence of Voss (really rates him highly) and Ash Hanson as forward coach (jokingly said he was no good and other teams to not bother looking at him,)
  • Long discussion about snapping around the corner. Has been doing a lot of work with Ash over the last couple of weeks to assess what the maximum distance is for the snap and when he should revert back to the drop punt. He asked Riewoldt what he thought about the snap. Nick said he enjoyed itand wished it was a thing early in his career as he started with it very late and had some success.

Seems to be getting more comfortable doing media and is starting to enjoy it. Apologies if I missed anything.

Loved how he kept (mostly) referring to the club as 'we'. Still a blue boy.

That’s what I have noticed with a few of our former players, they have nice things to say about the club. Dale Thomas was delisted and even he says nice things about the club.

The culture of the club turned well before the on field performance did.

I've said before (as have others I'm sure) but the turn culturally happened under Bolton. There was a real togetherness and closeness amongst the group even then despite lack of onfield success.

Similar has happened at the Suns, the culture turned a couple of years ago and the subsequent on field turnaround has only really started this year.

It does seem odd…..yet he’s WAY more of a Bluebagger than any of us….he actually played for them!

But yeah is lovely to hear hey. Nice to see him back. Nice to see Murph cheering for them too.

Wonder how Teague feels watching Hewett, Charlie, Cerra, a more mature TDK, a fit Kennedy. I’d be bitter I reckon. “Oh yeah it’s ALL Vossy isn’t it?”

🤦‍♂️

Drove me insane a lot, probably said more about my expectations than anything. Seems a really decent bloke and love how he's getting received back at Princes Park.

He needs to get sort out Myblueroan early in morning around those tracks.
Less hay, more hard work.

Daniel Gorringe and Nick Graham on twitter. Both still follow the club/games closely and continually refer to us/we.
Once a Blue, always a Blue. Even if you weren't there for long and didn't play many senior games.
