Cornes is overstating the money, but he might have a point?

Apparently the players took a pay cut to get him, so I think the contract is certainly decent - probably not $700k though.

However, he's not wrong. He's only 22 and I may have unrealistic expectations but he's been pretty average in my eyes tbh. Really good 1st round & against WCE last week. They're the only times I've noticed him.

Good one Kane Cornes. 😂

He's had some good games. I don't think last week against West Coast was one of them, though.

Cerra is fine. He actually suffers with our midfield mix. Vossy loves the “contested first“ blokes. Cerra is contested, but is our best midfield distributor by foot. I don’t believe our structures quite enable him to play enough to his strengths. Take him out of the shadows, by role, give him the responsibility and he will shine.

Vossy’s brutal midfield game plan leaves us vulnerable to the teams with slick ball movement. If they can limit our extractors, we are very much up against it. Cerra is point of difference.

I expect Cerra to build into his work nicely throughout the rest of the season and continue to improve next year.

Has had a dose of Covid and a hamstring amongst his first year at a new club learning new systems and team mates.

The failed fireman gets paid to stir up opinions for immediate reactions based on what happened this week. Hoping that people on here are in for the longer haul.

Cerra is underperforming compared to expectations. He is down on most things apart from tackles. Adam Cerra 2022 AFL Statistics - FinalSiren.com

But stats being stats, new game plan, new team, new role etc and therefore stats dont tell the full picture but its true, you dont really notice him...
His stats are up if you take away the game he was subbed out after 2 disposals.

24 disposals a game vs 23 last yr (with the subbed out game of 4 last yr taken out of the avg).

Tackles are up
Clearances are up
Contested possessions are up

Inside 50s are about the same and Uncontested possessions are about the same (each very slightly down).

It's a bit overblown this whole thing, he's at least matched his raw numbers at Freo last yr. He probably hasn't had the outside game of last yr but that's not what we've asked our mids to do so in that sense he's doing fine.

Cerra also played really well the first time we played the Dockers and against Collingwood. Would be averaging 24.5 disposals a game if you take out the game he was injured 5 minutes in so has career high disposals, clearances, tackles and contested possessions this year.

He has about met my expectations. The only disappointing thing is we havent really seen his great kicking inside forward 50 which he was lauded for at Freo. He just bangs it in like the rest of our mids which makes me think it is a coachingdirection.

Yeah I thought he was good early in the season but has tailed off. Did he have Covid? (thought he did) for some reason I keep thinking maybe he has had some longer term fatigue from that.

By the same token, Jack Silvagni was our best kick inside 50 last year, and while he's kicking in more he's also stuffing more up.

I think there's something in what we were doing last year versus what we are doing this year from a training perspective that is resulting in players who are absolutely excellent kicks inside 50 messing up more kicks out of a desire to get it in faster. Whether this is a planned occurrence - take the tradeoff and shrug - or an accident is not something we can really know all that much about.

Stats show that the worse sides are the most efficient going inside 50. I'd put it down to more entries this year, more time spent in our forward half, so the opposition are better set up.

As Frizz said, a hammy and covid has impacted him a bit. He's also basically half a season into his career at a new club. Cornes just needs stuff to talk about.

Agree on this take out the Essendon game being subbed out & his first game back recently when he had a poor game he has been very good, probably no different to Weitering who has had two average games on his return.

NO: 1 for crowd attendances :thumbsu:

Just of note:- Collingwood have played 10 games at the MCG and we have played 7

The Blues currently sit No.1 in the AFL for average crowd attendance this season, with an average tally of 45,269

Narrowly ahead of Collingwood, Carlton supporters have followed their team in droves this season, evidenced by being part of five of the top 10 most-attended games so far in 2022.

Not sure what people were expecting, he's never been the stand out 'superstar' type like Walsh.

More a 'very good footballer' type, though he still has plenty of time to improve and could become a star. Had some very good games this year with Richmond rd 1 and Collingwood standing out immediately in my mind.
