The Blues conducted biomechanical analysis of McKay’s kicking action during the off-season to pinpoint why the 2021 Coleman medallist lost his way in front of goal last year.
It highlighted how a short step in McKay’s approach just before he kicked the ball sapped him of momentum and played havoc with the rest of his technique.

.Exactly!30 seconds from when you are awarded a mark/free, use the time
Not a fan of “use the 30 seconds”. Varies by player and situation (have ball, waiting for ball, umpire setting angles etc)Harry's routine was much better, seemed to be more decisive in his setup
Although, thought it was still a little rushed, rather than a smooth motion
30 seconds from when you are awarded a mark/free, use the time
Gaz Lyon saying Mckay would be a great centre half back yesterday is actually a good idea. Wont ever happen because he’s a great forward and they don’t grow on trees, but no reason why he couldn’t be a freak in the back half
much much stranger things have happened with regard to players changing position........
LemmeyGood idea! now lets find a CHF to replace him...

Yep.Not a fan of “use the 30 seconds”. Varies by player and situation (have ball, waiting for ball, umpire setting angles etc)
Old fashioned here. Once set, my attitude is let mechanics take over FLUENTLY. Use your time sometimes puts too many thoughts in heads. Back from mark, in line, balanced, GO, whether 5 seconds or 30. Kicking, including goal kicking, needs to be an instinct, albeit honed through repetition.
Harry is a natural good kick. Wasn’t a “butcher” in his first couple of years. Reportedly a manic trainer and preparer, somewhere along the way overthinking entered the equation. Bloke needs to trust himself. Rarely misses from beyond the arc. Just one option, a drop punt and kick through, steering won’t get it there.
Across the game, field kicking is better than “back in the day”, but too many spearheads have a suspect and spasmodic approach today. I get a “snap” when need to get some work on the ball, but it is too much an “out” for players with poor techniques or shaky head space.
