So in this real world, I have a private life.. and if I was arrested on new years eve I'd still have to answer to my employer

If you got arrested on NYE for being drunk, your employer wouldn't hear about it unless you told them, or you were due at work on NY morning.

agree.

the most important thing is his continued good mental health and overcome his addictions. Having his children near will help immensely, family as well.

We let him down imo.

Fevola has let himself down, his clubs and more importantly his family on numerous occasions over his AFL career. I don't care if he pulls on the boots again as long as he has sorted himself out for good.

although fev was sacked and now we are moving along nicely without him i am right now personally saying thankyou fev for what you did at carlton; you may be a ****head but when you were at your best you were the best full forward in the competition

GO BLUES TOP 4 2011:)

That would be a good scenario for Fev, but I reckon the AFL have had a gut full...for me he;s done his dash, and hope he gets his life back in order

Yeah, just read an article that Sheedy isnt going to make a play at recruiting Fev. The same article also said that if Fev's AFL career is over, he is looking at going to the states for a punters role in the NFL

We didn;t really sack, more we severed his contract and traded, a bit different to Brisbane's situation.

He has a punting NFL career ahead, I'd say getting out of the coutnry might be a good thing

The past tense of bring is 'brought'.

In the real world, if an employee misbehaves they get thrown out on their arse and are forced to start looking for a new job. In 'football world' their hand gets held, they get paid their entire contract and the club that has had to put up with their indiscretions is tarnished. I agree, treat him like an employee (in the real world) and cut all ties.

I'm struggling to see why so many people treat footballers like first class citizens because they kick a ball through some posts

In the real world, all the highly paid employee's who get their marching papers handed to them also get handed a huge wedge of cash to help alleviate their pain and suffering of getting fired from a job where their colossus screw up almost ruined the company.

While sportsmen like Fev dont have the same sort of responsibility as the guys running banks and huge companies, he is still contracted for a set period of time and having his contract terminated for a non-gross misconduct issue will be paid out.

Usually when the businessmen get paid out, they get a massive lump sum... and I reckon that Fev would have a good case for getting paid a lump sum. However, I reckon that he should just shut it and take the two payment of 950k over the two years and get on with sorting out his life and getting things back on track.

Well, that Fev trade cost the Lions 1.6 mill $, Hendo, Lucas, Bradshaw, Rischitelli and some terrible publicity all the nothing. The salary cap pressure created by the Fev trade was also a large part of the reason behind Brennan, and Sherman's departures.

:)

Something gives me the feeling that Brisbane lost through all of this... ;)

I think this is actually an excellent outcome for Fev. He hated being there from the get-go. Now he walks away with a huge pay-cheque, and some time to work things out. He'e still young enough to play AFL footy in 2012 if he can get his act together.

The thing is, who is going to want a 31-year-old with his track record? He's not going to improve on or off the field - taking him would be a huge step back if someone were to invest their time in him, especially considering his pay cheque would be off the scale.

Personally, I think he needs to be away from sport for a while. Work on himself and his family instead of trying to improve things like his football.

It's official.

I'd feel sorry for him, but it looks like he'll be getting paid $750k over two years to sit on his arse. I wish my work would sack me like that.

It will be interesting to see how the sacking stands up, although if they're agreeing to pay him out it's difficult to see how it couldn't. Aside from the NYE arrest (the indecent exposure claim was a bust), what else has he done wrong up there?

He'll never play AFL again. Barring some sort of Richmond mob outside Punt Rd the day before the PSD.

Really makes our decision to trade him look better and better.

There should be a 'Save Fev' group somewhere in Brisbane, right?

Spot on.

In the real word, would a bluepride or a harvey be arrested for the same incident.

If i was fired for every time I did something like Fev when out with mates, I would have gone through a dozen jobs.

The same law enforcment that allegedly betted slabs on who would catch Fevola.

He is supposed to act like the average joe yet he has more scruinity and is pulled up for less.

Doesnt add up.
Well I know I wouldn't be mouthing off to the police, but I guess that's how I was brought up?? Were said employers 'friends of the family' by chance??

It doesn't say where you live but if you didn't (for the most part) grow up in Brisbane, you wont realise how small this town is. You go out in the Valley, you will see all of your school mates, all of your uni mates, all of your work mates and the friends you find at 3 in the morning. So you can guarantee work mates will find out which means HR will find out :(

This :thumbsu:.

Id tell my employer to go forth and multiply if he told me that.

That will do wonders for your career prospects :):thumbsu:

can do a kouta and join the gladiators, has the build for it... "fever"

or join him in his souvlaki shop...?

he doesn't strike me as someone who has undertaken tertiary study while playing, but the situation isn't totally hopeless. stay at home dad with mr's fevola's kids.

It doesnt sit well with me that you fire the guy as soon as he's done what he was told to. He goes to rehab, and the minute he gets out hes fired? Also we created the man, we let him get his own way and play selfish football for years without reining him in. This situation is as much our fault as it is his.

We're paying him a 100k this year, we should have him play the year out in the Ants, no stuff ups allowed, on a BULLANTS contract, not a carlton list player. His leading and kicking - which were second to none - could be an example to certain young forwards we are bringing along without him jeopardising their senior positions. In a years time, who knows.

I'd say the AFL wants him out of the game...full stop.
He only has himself to blame, no one else.
In such a priveleged position these guys.

I don;t want him anywhere near our playing group in the Ants anywhere, he needs to get himself mentally right, be around those that care for him and get his life back on track, the AFL, Lions and Carlton have a duty of care to help him, rehab, counselling, etc etc

But no where near the playing group thanks.

At the end of the day he can still go home and play 'moneyfights' and that's what really matters.

Hard to be too upset for the guy when he has taken all his chances and a few more on top of that, but still shake my head at the trial by media he has copped...don't find any of his many incidents nearly as disturbing as those of Carey, Bock, Motlop or even our own Heath Scotland (should I put an alleged in here?), likely a good deal more as well.

Anyways the kid I really feel for is Callum Bartlett. Has his work cut out to swing this deal in Brisbane's favour.
