Dr. Sherrin
My last training report for a little while folks...work commitments will prevent me from any June training. I must say - it's getting difficult to glean much from training these Fridays...mainly due to the fact that some boys are going 50% and others - perhaps to impress - are going 80%...that coupled with the fact that Wednesdays are always a closed session and that's where the real hard yards are put in - physically and mentally.
But it is worth getting to training and keeping your eyes on the field while the boys are doing their stretches prior to the ball work. If you looked closely in the middle today you would have seen Ratts kicking to Diesel kicking to Braddles...there's a few more love handles and less hair than there used to be but if you squint hard enough - you're transported back to the mid-90's...and in writing that I think I uncovered the reason why no one talks to me at training!
Fev trains laconically at times - there was something else today that was bothering him today - perhaps stomach muscles...but I couldn't get any answers. What is for certain is that he has the yips in front of goal. After most of the boys had gone in from the 1.5 hr training session - Fev and Skinny Lappin went down to the Legends stand end for some goal kicking practice. And whilst it was a training session ...the shots had no follow through and to make the picture really clear - his set shots were similar to what we've seen off the boot of JUdd and Russell this year - both pretty disappointing.
Still - the Shag has been known to turn it around on match day so here's hoping. Some other observations...
* Great roar from the dugout that began proceedings this morning as Dennis Armfield led the boys out onto the field. He didn't let the occasion get to him and trained really well. As always 'Dangles' has plenty of voice and his disposal was pretty good today.
*One of the 80% boys was Joey Anderson who was joined by Saddo, Austin, Pfeiffer, Edwards and Andrew Walker who all participated in the bruise-free session. No Harts. Walks looked the goods.
Joey was really good. Kicking has improved and both he and Shaun Grigg have improved in the steadying of the ball in hand before guiding it onto the boot. Previously - both were guilt of moving the ball side to side. Watch Murph and Judd enough and these things will rub off.
*Outstanding skills on display from Simmo and Murph who didn't put a foot wrong.
*Bret Thornton trained well...moved well and kicked well. A certainty.
*Banno on the sidelines with Jammo were the only ones in rehab and JB probably could have done the main session. Both injuries are coming along nicely from what I hear on the grapevine.
*No idea what the matchups will be this week - will be interesting to see if Geelong pay too much attention to our midfield...I mean when you already drive a Ferrari...(someone else can finish that sentence).
...but I hear that Ling is not fit enough to go to Judd. I'd like to see Gibbs get Selwood and it's a great shame Hadley isn't available to negate Joel Corey's influence. Armfield for Stokes seems logical and perhaps Carazzo can keep Ablett quiet...although I'm not holding my breath.
I heard during the week the players were excited to take on Geelong. I didn't get too much of a hint of nervous excitement on the track - which could mean business as usual - but with Fev out of sorts and the Kruze and Hammo not training all that well - I was glad Clokey for one was pumped. Can we stretch Ottens on his return...has Ratts made the first move?
Shootout for mine...Murph and Eddie to snag 4 apiece. Blues by 7 points.

well can u paste that tc report onto here?

Push Fev up to CHF as a decoy, let Fisher and Hampson drop in behind him and go nuts one out.![]()
True. I just think Fev leading up will be shut down by two or three guys and is totally predictable, and if his kicking is still off, the few times he actually gets it could hurt us badly.I would have agreed with you on that if another tall forward was playing (i.e Hartlett or Edwards)
I just don't think sending a ruckman to the goal square will work all match. Also think Fisher is better pushing up the ground.

The Cats may struggle to match up a ruckman like Cloke or Hampson pushing forward rotating with Fisher.
I agree though that Fisher is great pushing up the ground.
