Okay, I went missing for a couple of weeks but now I'm back in time to ponder our chances of a win at Subiaco. Not terribly confident as many fine teams have failed there in recent times and the Dockers are on a roll.

Great to see Fisher back in, he was really a fantastic forward option before he went down. A bit of a foil really for Fev and Corey. Together with Waite he gave the Blues a youthful, enthusiastic look.

Anyway, what's the best we can hope for in this game which takes on a greater importance considering how teams usually lose the week after a game on Subiaco because of the toll on their legs. I guess the Eagles and Dockers have finally come to grips with it though as they are starting to win away.

Thoughts?

Correct me if I am wrong Kenny , but it rained last year & we thumped them by 28pts. It will be fine tomorrow & Freo by 98 ( 161-63 ) :)

Bad luck Blues, I was impressed at the way you kept fighting throughout the game and how you didn't let us get out to big lead. Your players should hold their heads high.

Jarrad Waite is a player of the future and Pavlich v Kouta was a great match-up. Pavlich was probably more damaging with his two goals but Kouta looks to be getting back to his old form.

Was always going to be a tough ask with Campo a late withdrawal and Ratten out after 30 seconds. Fortunately Simon Fletcher stepped up to the plate admirably though those disposal skills aren't Rattenesque by any stretch.

It really should have been time for Murphy to take the leading midfield role with both hands but once again, he waited behind packs looking for the easy opportunity. I equate Murph to a forward pocket, if they take 6 marks and kick 3 goals they have done their job and contributed. Well Justin will take a couple of nice grabs and slot a couple of long goals and pin point a couple of leading forwards but gives away goals with a lack of intensity and accountability in the open spaces. Do we keep him for those fleeting moments of class or do we go for an allrounder whose skills aren't so rich?

Genuinely excited about Jarrad Waite, the kid is all class. I just hope we have a side that can enable him to display that class in the next couple of years.

We were never going to win without Whitnall, Ratten and Campo. Great to see Fisher back in the side; his strong making and general skills will be of great asset in the future. Waite looks to be the Kouta of the new, and Kouta looks to be the Kouta of the old. Fletcher played a good game I reckon, don't know about all the abuse he's been getiing after that performance (so what, he's kicked a few bad ones? So has everyone else on our team).

If Fletcher didn't have a bad history, he wouldn't of copped all that abuse after the game. Murphy should be dropped in the twos or left in the forward line... Lappin back up forward as we've sorely missed crumbers. We can't just reply on an inconsistent Houlihan and our talls.

This will be my team against Geelong:

B: Norman Martyn Beaumont
HB: McKay Thronton Sporn
C: Waite Koutoufides Camporealoe
HF: Fisher McKernan Hickmott
F: Lappin Fevola Houlihan
R: French McCormick Hulme

Inter: Fletcher, Livingston, Eccles, Allan

INS: Livingston, Eccles, Camporealoe

OUTS: Murphy, Ratten (inj.), Plunkett

Campo should be back from hamstring soreness, Eccles should be given a chance and Livingston more game time for confidence. Ratten won't be back until after the break, Murphy needs a spell in the twos to get his ability back and Plunkett is a waste of space (what happened to his 2001 form?).
