I expect the group to dial it back from the last few weeks, with the intensity and awesomeness dropping back much more to a "just do enough to get the points" mentality.

Not that Clarkson will be coaching the group to go down that path, but I'd be surprised if we come out firing and belt them like some people think we should.

#thelasttimecarltonbeathawthorn I recorded most Hawthorn games with my VCR.

As new strategic coach at Hawthorn I propose we place Schoey at fullback, ably assisted by Suckers, and let's run Sizzle on the ball for the whole day! There ya go, that should've woken you all up. :p

Ah, but seriously, if we're gonna do this, can we do it well? Let's get out to a comfortable lead by half time so I'm not thinking 'Well, I don't know...' going into the last quarter because we look so complacent. I don't need it. You don't need it. Not even Johnny Barker needs that. Let misery endeth quickly for their coach and the barest of satisfactions come our way for whatever margin it ends up being (as long as it ain't a loss).

Don't mind them easing off the throttle just so long as the machine doesn't stall and we end up spending the next couple weeks battling to get back up to speed.

Also with such a fit list and finals just around the corner I can't see large parts of the side backing off when their spot in the side is far from secured.

I expect an ugly game with Carlton trying to slow the game down and play the percentages with us going through the motions before getting screamed at at half time whereby we'll kick 5 or 6 goals then go back to being bored.

I expect the mob on the mainboard will interpret the Carlton blokes taking it up to us as signs of our impending vulnerability like a bunch of idiots.

I wanted to go tonight, but then realised it's at Etihad. Will instead grab a nice bottle of red and settle down in front of the telly. Much more enjoyable.

I thought the same, thought it was a replacement game. But then saw it was at Shittyhad, so yep, kick back on the couch and watch the Hawks win.

Gotta be about % tonite. Happy to play players out of position to test some strategy. But when it comes to the second half, I want blood.

I heard Slobbo on AFL 360 mention a "full Etihad". Realistically how many will be there tonight? Anymore than mid-30k would surprise me.

You're right actually. Percentage could be the difference between 2nd and 3rd with the possibility of us finishing equal on points with West Coast who also have an amazing percentage.

Who'd have thought you'd still be needing to try and build your percentage when it's already at 159% in round 17...

Carlton home game and I don't think many will show for what should be a bloodbath. May get a few extra along due to their '95 celebrations and the cheaper food and drinks. Hawthorn supporters don't usually show to Etihad games either.

High 20's to low 30's I reckon. (that's not in thousands either ;))

If Carlton go out like that I would expect us to trounce them. Their only chance is to take us on with a kamikaze running style game, a la Port and Essendon earlier in the season. Even so, I expect they'll run out of fuel tickets three quarters through the game.

I imagine there will be a couple of late changes.

I really expect this to be a poor spectacle. Why Carlton keep getting Friday nights us beyond me. They don't have the skill or intensity to elevate this game to any sort of enjoyable standard. If we are fair dinkum we win by a hundred in a one sided snore fest, if we are switched off we win by 40 in a frustrating dumb off. 50 and no injuries would do me.

Good to see us starting to manage players like Doc, Chip, Langers, Cegs, and get more games into Billy, Lithers and JOR. Several players have already had rests like cyril and Ruff. Stratts and Sheila get their turn this week and I expect Sam and Burger to have a week soon as well. We are in a far better spot health wise than 2012.

Because Carlton are celebrating their '95 premiership Etihad is apparently offering "1995 prices" on some food and possibly beer. I doubt they're actually going to be at 1995 prices but should still be cheaper than usual. Probably the cheaper Sunday prices they've been doing this year.

I think we will ease the intensity and give a few guys a mild run around tonight. Still win by about 50 though and that is nothing to do with the Blues. We have meandered through a couple of games this year and won by 50 in the end. I hope the Cobbler has a beauty and gets on the end of 3 or 4. if he can start hitting the scoreboard with multiple goals each week it is just another worry for our opposition when they try to manage our scoring power. He is playing the Buddy / Gunston 2013 role of wandering between the centre circle and goal square really well at the moment, if he adds the goals to it, we will be unstoppable. Very important role to our structures.
