Chance for a 3rd consecutive win.

I know i am making this early but this is definitely a danger game for us.
Bombers coming off a good win and hopefully our boys don't get over-confident.

Their Forwards our backs:
After going to watch them on Friday it became very clear what their preferred forward setup was:

Lloyd 50-80 meters out. Pushing up to the wings to take marks. Providing an option from the 2nd or 3rd kick in play.

Lucas- 30-60 Meters out. Pushing up to HF taking marks and catching his opponent running back into the 50.

Neagle- 0-30 meters out. Generally parked his (fat) ass in the goal square and tried to take big marks and clunk some marks deep near the goal-line. Very slack on following his man on the rebound. His opponent in the first half (Embley) had 3 shots on goal which is unacceptable for Neagle.

Id expect us to match-up like this:

Lloyd- Jamison could go to him as he has the pace to go with him on his long lead to the wings. The other options would be Waite so that he can go with lloyd up the ground and be involved in the play alot more. If one of these 2 are getting beaten expect Setanta to go to Lloyd.

Lucas- Although Thornton has a good track record against him i would expect Waite to resume his role at CHB and try to be involved in as many rebounds as he can and run off Lucas.

Neagle- Expect Setant to go back there as he is probably the only one that can match it strength wise with Naegle and is much more athletic.

Id expect Thornton on Monfries on the other medium forward.

Armfield on Jetta.

Our Forwards their backs.

Fevola - Super form although has a minor injury. No clear matchup. Michael is out of the side so Fletcher will probably get the job but Fev is very quick so if our midfield can get it down to him quickly on the lead he should kick a few. Other options include Ryder and NLM

Kruezer/Cloke: Whichever of the two is down there expect Ryder to go to him.

Hartlett: Personally i think he should come into the team for Hampson as he has been down on form lately. May force a Ryder matchup if he plays, leaving fisher with NLM

Eddie: Slattery may go to him. Eddie Clear advantage up the ground and deep. Needs to crumb.

Fisher: Very dangerous as he will end up with the 3rd defender as Ryder will have to go to the resting ruckman or Hartlett. NLM may get the job so expect Fisher to have a day out.

MIDFIELDS: Expect them to tag Judd Steven's and maybe even Murphy.

Welsh has generally gone to the slower of the best two opposition midfielders so i think he will go with Steven's but wouldn't be surprised if he got Judd.

If Bannister doesn't play then i think Bentick could go with Stanton or even Hadley if he plays.

I think we can just go head to head witht he others as they have no real standouts. Maybe just Gibbs to Lonergan.

Ruckman. This is the area that concerns me. Hill is the form ruckman in the comp along with Hudson and was very very good on friday. Is very dangerous up forward so we need to exploit their lack of talls and maybe even force him to play back at stages. Cloke will always provide a contest and may have to stick close to Hille. would not be too concerned with Laycock.

Dangers to us:
9 day break for the Bombers
Coming off a good win- high confidence
In form ruckman
Lloyd and Lucas back in form

Advatages to us:
Superior midfield
On paper good match-ups for us down back
Essendons weak backline
FEV

Early week Prediction:

If we don't get cocky Blues by 32

I think Hammer will be the only out although i don't want to see it.

I think he looks a little bit at sea atm, but thats all we can expect, he's and excellent prospect and will need time. I think Austin might come in for him. Even thought he's a backman, he might get a run up forward or can allow someone like Waite to go forward.

Neagle is not fat, will be too quick for Setanta and has alot more footy smarts than him. Don't agree that your backline matchups are any good and ours are crap. Fev is our only worry whilst we have 3 forwards caspable of kicking bags all be it only Llopyd and Lucas have proven it in a regular season match..

You know this do you? Neagle is known for his explosive speed. He doesn't rely on contested marks as you suggest.

We've got our options HR. Between Jamison, Carlos, Waite and Thornton, I think we can cover Lloyd, Lucas and Neagle.

McVeigh will tag Judd
Welsh will tag Stevens

I didn't watch the game on friday, although i was under the impression that mcviegh was stating to be let loose in the midfield. But as i said i didnt watch it so . Have the feeling murph might receive some attention after to cracking weeks in a row.

McVeigh tagged Judd in round 3 this year, and me thinks he'll do the same thing again this week. Welsh is the obvious one for Stevens. Not sure what they'll do with Murphy - guess they can't tag everyone.

I think we just have to play 2 ruckman. Hampson looked non existant today simply because we mostly used Cloke and Kruez in the ruck. If we decide to play Hampson, then let him be the 2nd ruckman at least, and stick Kruez up forward....otherwise whats the point

I think Myers would be a decent match for murphy.

If Lloyd plays up the ground at CHF again then Waite should get him. Waite is strong enough for him and will be useful on rebound. That leaves Lucas closer to the square for Thornton to be on him, Setanata on Neagle.

If Lloyd plays FF then i think Jamo should get him again - true he kicked a few on him last time, but that was due to midfield delivery. That leaves Waite for Lucas.

Big power forwards seem to be our weakness - Lloyd and Lucas are two of them. If we shut them down, we will win.

What's Hartlett's form been like in the 2's? Any other forward options to bring in? Edwards?

Hammo might need a few weeks back there to get some touch back. Maybe bring in Pfieffer for him.

Also, we can't let this turn into a shootout again. Our defensive pressure has improved greatly and is 10 times better than the Bombers'. We need to use it to our advantage.

I think Lucas might play up the ground a bit more this week as he gains some match fitness. Will be rotated through the match depending on matchups and if someone's on a streak.

Think it will be a midfield battle, as both forward lines look capable of beating their backs. Hille needs to play a big game.

We are badly missing another strong forward, I love Fish, but he simply gets it too far up the ground. Time to get Edwards and Hartlett, hand them both a tail, put up a tailess donkey, and see who wins. No need for blindfolds, let the strongest man win.

Seriously, we need to invest our hopes into one of these guys, hopefully one of them comes in AND STAYS THERE for several weeks. I'd try Hartlett once more.

Pfieffer can play up forward and give Eddie a help with the crumbs. I think that would be the way to go if either Harts or Edwards aren't in form. He's tall enough to take a mark too.

The kid deserves another gig after the Freo game.

Maybe pushing Wiggans closer to the square could be an option, with Pfieffer roaming the HF flank.

Jamison - Neagle.

Waite - Lucas.

Thornton - McPhee.

Setanta - Lloyd - the velvet sledgehammer might soil himself again.

Armfield - Lovett/Jetta.

Gibbs - Stanton.

Fevola - Is Joel Reynolds still on the Scum's list? ;)

Put Ryder on Fev.

Monfries might be used as a defensive forward/tagger on Scotland like Grigg against Heath Shaw.

Nash - Betts if the Bomber plays.

Fletcher - Fisher - Or they might play NLM on Fev to match him for pace and have Fletcher or another Bomber double team Fev?

Slattery - Wiggins - two hard players.

Ryder - Fisher - ????????

Reimers - Carrazzo.

Watson - Bentick.

Simpson/Carrazzo - Lonergan.

Simmo would be a good match up for Lonergan from our point of view and exploit him for pace and run.
