Not sure how swanny could trumpet this result with a straight face, let me break it down for all those Blues fans that frequent these parts.

Profit...............................................................................2.9

Less Abnormal items

AFL grant for the downtrodden.............................................2.0
Pratts whiparound from Visy suppliers(whoops, Carlton Coterie)...2.0

Real Result.................................................................Net loss 1.1

Footnote from auditors, if the AFL benevolent fund continues alongside Pratts tactics, I mean generosity, i expect that the Blues financial performance will continue to be bouyant

Blues rapt to be back in black November 27, 2007 - 6:25PM

First came the star signing, then the No.1 AFL draft pick and now the Blues are well and truly back in black.
Carlton have confirmed a massive $2.94 million profit, highlighting a major off-field turnaround for the embattled club and continuing their strong off-season.

It came after the Blues recruited Chris Judd from West Coast and snared ruckman Matthew Kreuzer last Saturday in the national draft.
Carlton chief executive Greg Swann said the Blues had also reduced their colossal debt this year from $8.5 million to $6.5 million.
"It's an outstanding result and the indicators are all there that we're making a strong start to next year," Swann said.
It is the first time Carlton have made an annual profit since 2003.

Swann added a special loan from the league was not part of the profit result.

Tuesday's good news is a far cry from the off-field turmoil that wracked the Blues a year ago, which resulted in Richard Pratt taking over as president.
"The numbers clearly reflect a revival in the fortunes of Carlton, as the on-field rebirth of the Blues gathers momentum," said Swann.
"That the club recorded a profit in the region of $3 million is testimony to the efforts of many.
"Carlton have now worked themselves into a position where we are able to consolidate.
"
We're progressively resourcing vital areas of our club's operations, not the least of which is our football operations department."
The football club result now incorporates the operations of the social club, which were transferred two months ago.
One of the features of Carlton's financial turnaround was a record membership of 35,431, up 7000 on the previous year's figure.
Swann said the Blues now aimed to have the biggest membership of any Victorian club.

Pratt was the best thing that ever happened to Carlton. We should be jealous, I wish we had a billionaire business man as president! Of course they had a hugh profit and expect that to continue. Next year I wouldn't be surprised if its 4 million. Carlton will unfortunately soon be the richest club in the league in few years, thats the sad truth!:thumbsd:

when pratty gets fined for more money from new zealand

he will be outted from carlton and who will be there to shove money in that pit hole

no one

the sooner carlton realise they are useless the better

;) yeboti

Let me break it down for you. 2007 Profits: Carlton = 3 mill, Richmond = 1 mill. That's a 300% better result. Not bad. I really don't care too much about profits only flags matter, but since you brought it up, it's an interesting comparison. The Blues have massive fiancial backing, and are the richest Club in the AFL. That's just a fact. We have recently signed the biggest sponsorship in AFL history, have a booming membership, a massive supporter base, and have put together a brilliant young list. The AFL have also given us huge free to air coverage in 2008, way out of proportion to our 2007 finish, because the TV stations know we are going to be successful, and this will just boost our revenue base even further. It's a just success roller-coaster, and everyone wants to be part of it. I also think the Tiges profit of 1 mill was an excellent result, considering. Both Clubs should be congratulated. :)

Private ownership by stealth....;)

What you need to understand is that there is and always has been some serious money backing the Carlton Football Club, and it's not just from Pratt. So a short term cash injection is always available if needed. But more importantly, the Blues know how to attract the big sponsorship dollar, through business contacts, and aggressive marketing. Over the past 12 months the Blues have been manipulating the media to promote their players and the Carlton brand. This brings in more revenue from sponsors and memberships, that we pump into the development of our list. The only goal is winning flags - that is the Carlton obsession. :)

You're not going soft on the Tigers are you Parrot, this is the second/third time in the past 2 days I've read you say something positive about the club.

which include an AFL dividend for the downtrodden clubs. watch to see the whites of Price Fixing Pratts eyes when he's needed to tip an additional 2mn once the AFL pull the rug on all parasites come the end of 2008. ..Visy's suppliers will be cringing...The richest club in the lague in debt to their eyeballs and would be insolvent if not for a benevlant AFL, aghhh tell us another one:p

lol. I'm not sure where you've been for the past 12 months, but the Blues have had one of the biggest financial turnarounds ever seen. The Blues financial situation is just booming, with massive revenue from sponsorships, and memberships, and actually produced 3 times the profit that Richmond made. That's a 300% better result. I should add, we are pouring money into Princes Park, making it the benchmark training facility, that others can aspire to. By contrast, the Tiges have just announced phase I of a relocation plan. Are you happy about that? :)

Having an extremely rich AFL president is GREAT for any club and VERY GOOD news for Andrew Demetriou and the League too, but it just amazes me when Carlton supporters pat themslves on the back as if they had something to do with it!

Everyone knows a dominant Carlton is good for the AFL. It raises the standard of the competition, and increases attendances and revenue. Dominant Carlton sides always play an exciting, attacking and skillful brand of footy, which the crowds love. A stark contrast to the Swans/Crows/Hawks ultra-floods that we've had to endure over the past several years. The standard of the top-8 in 2007 was actually quite poor. Geelong were the standouts, but the rest were below the standard expected for top-8 sides. Probably the weakest top-8 in the past 15 years or so. The Blues return to the top will change all that. :)

youre a ****ing tool, if we had a 2.5 million dollar handout as well we wouldve anounced a 3.5 million dollar profit

moron

Kudos to 0% Ratten for the extraordinary tanking job in light of this revelation that the top 8 were all crap bar one.

Guys, parrot is right.:o

Only on his point that a strong Carlton is good for the competition.

How sensational will it be in a GF in a few years time when a 100,000+ crowd watches the Tigers win a classic game between the two arch rivals. All this pathetic banter on BF here will be meaningless!

Without your opponent being there, you aren't able to push their head in the mud;) And when they are tanking cheats, it feels even better!

Agree on that point. The soul-less regional Clubs like Weagleland, have added nothing to the game, apart from a drug problem. Watching their supporters bang little yellow plastic sticks together behind their goals at Subi makes the football world just cringe. Nothing touches a big game at the G between the Victorian rivals. :)

For a laugh, why dont you tell us about the failed pub venture once again and whilst you keep a straight face try explaining how finances are booming whilst on a special dividend to remain solvent. Your not talking to any birdbrain on the Carlton boards here ol son....c'mon wartm up and give it your best shot and keep it to 3 or 4 lines , I get bored easily..

It's Carlton. Who cares?
exactly! if i wanted to hear about carlton i'd join their site.
seems to me there are some in the closet boys about.
either that or they can't keep their noses out of other peoples business!
by the way just to really pee them off i just watched some footage of trent cotchin and i would say that he made kruezer look good and i'd say the best player went at number 2. things are looking up!

We did have something to do with it. A record 35K members is attractive to any sponsor, so are the crowds such as the record attendance we set at the Telstra Dome.

Back in your box now.

For a laugh, why dont you tell us about the failed pub venture ...

Sure. Guess how much we lost over that deal. ZERO DOLLARS. Swann made an excellent business decision and decided to not go ahead with the deal because circumstances ha changed. Now we have signed the biggest sponsorship in the history of the competition. That is how you run a successful decision - making the right decisions. Part of the reason why we produced 3x the profit the Tiges made in 2007. :)
