CARLTON could face the reigning premiers this Saturday night minus Jarrad Waite, with the important key position player facing a one-match suspension for striking Fremantle's Chris Mayne.
Waite, 25, has been charged with a level one striking offence for his clash with the young Docker during Saturday's match at Telstra Dome. The match review panel handed the forward/defender 80 demerit points for his action.
A total of 97.75 carry-over points from within the last 12 months pushes Waite over the one-match ban threshold, which cannot be reduced to less than 100 points even with an early plea.
The Blues will have to clear Waite's name at Tuesday night's tribunal if they want him to play against Geelong at Telstra Dome this weekend.
Hawthorn skipper Sam Mitchell has escaped suspension for tripping Melbourne's Simon Buckley, and has been offered a reprimand and 93.75 points with an early guilty plea.
If the Hawks choose to argue the charge at the tribunal, they will risk having the midfielder suspended for one match as the initial offence has drawn a total of 125 demerit points and a one-week sanction.
In other match review panel news, Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich has been fined $1950 with an early plea for making negligent contact with umpire Gary Fila, while Melbourne's Nathan Jones has been awarded the same penalty for a similar offence against umpire Matthew James.

i think he should appeal it which i think is what the club will be doing.

Pretty sure its one week either way, if he accepts its one week and if he loses the challege its still only one week as the points are less than 200.

It was a nothing incident, it was a clumsy incident and was nothing more than a push in the face, it wasn't a strike!!!!

Challenge, Challenge, Challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see Tarrant didn't get cited for his kick into Scotlands stomach in the first quarter whne Scotland was running past...impact was low, but the intent was there...

He will not receive a 2 match ban if we challenge the decision... what do we have to lose?
The 'striking' charge only gave him 80 points... the fact he had 97 or so carry-over points put him into the 1-match ban area.

Unfortunatle or fortunatly, which ever way you look at it, he has a bit of mongeral in him like Vin (father) and he's gonna do this every now and then, nice bloke but on the field an angry man.

There wasn't much in it though, worth an appeal...

it doesn't deserve any suspension considering the numerous others that get off for way worse (eg. Goodes). And for Mitchell to get less for a clear full on kick/hack on the Melbourne player is a disgrace!!

Wrong.

Seeing everyone type Kr"U"ezer is probably the most misspelled.

Its Kr"E"uzer, damnit!

It's dabnammit, ya' crazy varmint!
