Hey Carly can you do us Dockers fans a favour, get all your cuzzens to light bon fires around York Park in a fortnight to give the players a little more warmth?. Tassie great place but does have heating problems.

While you're at it, at least get them to support a W.A. side?.

Look as a sweetner, we'll try an "muzzle" Sabre for a week, geez he should be over the moon hearing that McPharlin is A ok.

Pretty please.

Well I havent got alot of cousins in these parts...the majority are in the west actually!!!
As for supporting the dockers.....Id like to see them win!
It certainly is cold down here at this time in Tasmania!!!
I'll see what I can do...... ;)

Their not actually......I dont have a second team but Id prefer to see any interstate team win over a Victorian side!
Put an oar down??? Whats that meant to mean???

Carly, as a Tasmanian now living in N.S.W. I'm interested in your opinion of York Park, Personall I think it is a crap venue, and the only reason Bacon wants the games there is to buy votes in the north.

BTW, Masai i'd say a more accurate description of Tassie would be this:

Tasmania: Beautiful one day, freezing for the other 364

Never mind the bloody travel bug - now we have to get over the "temp bug" too. Is this another deliberate attempt by the bloody Vics to make life tough for us?? Imagine sending a team from sunny Perth all the way to bloody freezing Tassie?? If we come second on the day, it won't be because if the travel it'll be the ICE AGE WEATHER!!!!
This is nothing against Tassie - seriously! It's the conspiracy theory thingy, seriously!
Do the Eagles have to play at York Park this year (they did last year didn't they??). What about Brissy?)

They played Hawthorn there in round 2, and lost by 2 points. Hopefully they won't have to go there again for a while yet.

Youd obviously be a southerner with an attitude like that ;)!
I think York Park is excellent, the surface is fantastic and the atmosphere at games is great. You have to remember Wattie that the Launceston City Council started a capital works program on York Park in the hopes of getting an AFL club down here! Launceston is the centre of Tasmania, halfway between the NorthWest coast and Hobart, its a perfect place for Footy in the state. Footy at York Park and cricket at Belrieve!

Been there a couple of times, love the place.

It has it's draw back (lack of employment) but that is not bad when put in perspective (less industry and interuption).

Lot's of great towns with some real characters, plus the wilderness is very untamed. I've done a bit of sailing around the coast (3 peaks race), awesome.

I better not say too much else the tourism people will hear about it and try to flood the island with visitors. Let people think that you are all related and have two heads, it keeps the numbers of visitors down.

Firstly yes I am a southerner but as I don't live in the state anymore so that doesn't really come into it. Yes the surface is good, however if you don't buy reserve seating then you'd better be standing on the fence otherwise you can't see anything. The standing room is flat, and in places, even slopes away from the playing surface. As for Launceston city council's capital works program, that applies to Hawthorn games, which I had no complaint about, but once Jim started pushing for the St Kilda games to be there as well it became blatantly obvious he was just buying votes in the marginal Northern seats. On Launceston being the centre of Tasmania, no it isn't, if you really want games in the most central location, then they should all be at Ross. I now live near Newcastle, which is a much more central location in N.S.W. than Sydney, but I still have to make the trip down to Sydney if I want to watch AFL and that's the way it should be. I could rant for hours but I feel I've already done enough of that.

1/ Once a southerner, always a bloody southerner!
2/ After years of getting nothing dont you think its time we Northerners got something!
3/ Bacon was looking after the best interests of the WHOLE state when he gave the footy to York Park. If it were in Hobart itd make the footy inaccessible to the North West Coasters and all the ppl on the east coast! FYI- Launceston is 1 3/4 hours from the North West Coast, 2 from Hobart. The people on the coast wouldnt beable to go to the footy if it were in the South!
Its people with attitudes like yours that have made this state what it was for christ sake!

Your feelings on the matter are obviously pretty strong so I won't push the issue any further. Sorry.

Yep, at least we agree on the issues that really matter.

HA HA HA! :D:D:D
No the simple fact of the matter is that the people on the coast wont drive three or four hours and then have to cough up money for a hotel for the night! They could if the especially wanted to but theres not alot of people who live on the coast that can afford to do it!
;)
