Wants to go home and finish his studies. Has not sought a release from his Titans contract, meaning he will not play league or union for 2 years.

Don't think it was circumstances under the Titans control that caused Carney to want to go back home.

Reading the articles, it seems he struggled for motivation last year too.

A massive loss for the Titans but also a loss for rugby league. Carney was not only a very good player but also a great personality for the game. He gained a lot of respect last year both on and off the field and it is a shame that he is no longer motivated to play. Anytime a sport loses an intelligent, well-spoken, self-deprecating and talented player it is a shame.

A good summary that. I was looking forward to see him in Titans colours but he has lost none of my respect after the way he has handled himself in this situation, which is obviously more difficult for him than would appear.
