http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-tarnished-by-dreadful-situation-20101016-16oh5.html

RARELY have the double standards at play in the AFL's internal disciplinary system been so exposed as they have over the past fortnight, once it became clear that Collingwood's premiership celebrations had been well and truly tarnished by a packrape allegation.
The handling of this dreadful situation by both the AFL and the Magpies since the accusations by a 20-year-old female student came to light less than 48 hours after the deciding grand final, has been - to be generous - perplexing.

Sorry, had to laugh at the threat title.;)

But this part is just plain ****ing stupid.

Collingwood wants to hold on to the players concerned, while Brisbane and St Kilda - in the case of Lovett - did not. Lovett was suspended by the club two months before he was charged. Just why the AFL so vehemently criticised 3AW's Neil Mitchell for naming the Magpies when it did not do so in the case of Lovett is mystifying.

WTF, the players concerned have done nothing legally wrong, that is what has come out of all this, did I miss something Caro didn't.

It remains unclear whether the scenario proves to be deemed worthy of police charges and perhaps even a conviction. But crystal clear is the fact that the game's reputation has been damaged at a time when the competition had every right to be celebrating.
Bitter, twisted hag is good at contradictions.

Holy crap that article was filled with bile and venom. Who was the poster on here who met her and said she was really a very lovely lady? I think he needs to read this and reconsider his opinion.

The club has handled the situation to perfection. Notice that Caro is the only person trying to stir up muck? All the oxygen has been sucked out of the story, the media ain't getting a single word out of anyone and it's burning her up.

She seems to be irrelevant these days...

The fact is...whatever happened in other cases including that sewer rat that plays for st. Kilda... a name shouldnt be published until the police charge the footballer..

and players should be presumed innocent until they are convicted...

Of course, none of that happens with the low-lifes in the media

**** YOU CAROLINE HORSE WILSON YOU UGLY BITCH.

Get over it you old hag WE WON THE PREMIERSHIP.

Heard her say this on 3AW last week but didn't think she'd have a whole article about it. Bitter and twisted women. Hope Eddie and Co. don't allow any players to talk to 3AW or the Age now. Once again GET ****ED muppet!!

Why write an article presuming they have done something wrong then?

Just another effort by Caro to keep this issue in the news. MM & Eddie have really gotten under her wrinkled old skin.

We won the premiership Caro and no tripe that you write can ever take that away from us. The bigger concern for Caro, is we look to have built something that will be challenging very strongly for the next few years.

Whatever happened to being innocent until proven guilty?

From what I've heard about this alleged incident, the players have nothing to worry about, which makes Neil Mitchell and Caroline Wilson look like even bigger morons than they already are.

i almost certain of two things:

1. rape did occur and the players named are guilty
2. they wont be charged

to say that they havent done anything wrong until they are charged and convicted is to neglect the failures of the legal system when it comes to allegations of rape.

a more appropriate form of action would have been to suspend both players indefinitely (until the investigation has run its course), immediately after the club found out about the allegations... to do nothing is a bit like sticking your head in the sand...

id be perfectly happy with the club sacking both players tomorrow...

Are you out of your mind??? There are enough false accusations made about high profile people already. I'm not saying the accusations are false but if the club/AFL took such action it would almost certainly result in more accusations being made. There is a certain type of individual who craves this type of notoriety - again not saying this is the case this time - and seeing a single accusation destroying the reputations of a couple of public figures and dictating the actions of such a powerful body as the AFL is just the type of reward that type of petty, shallow individual is looking for.

There are processes put in place for dealing with just this type of situation and they are being followed. If the club/AFL were to knee jerk react in the way you suggest it would be open season and also reward gutter journalism such as we have seen.

Trust in the processes, don't give air time to muppets like caroline and her ilk and get on with the celebrations.

she has been waiting all year to write something bad against us and thats the best she can come up with?

when this blows over, once again she will be left with egg on her face

Hope the club puts the Age on a media ban next year. And I cant wait for the day that Ms Wilson is sued

I'm almost certain of 2 things also;

1. You know as much about what went on as Caroline Wilson (BASICALLY NOTHING)
2. You don't think before you post

The only people who really know what went on that night are the parties involved, so unless you were there, shut up about "rape did occur".:thumbsd::mad:

God I hate Caroline Wilson, she brings up a dead subject just for her own little cheap thrills. Sick, twisted cow.:thumbsd::mad:

She's flailing around in her irrelevancy. Piteous really.

PS Soho, the only thing I can be almost certain of, is that you, and the vasy majority of the population, don't have any degree of certainty what happened.

When Caro does the 'investigative' stuff she is very good, but of late all her articles seem to be negative and anti everything.
In addition she clearly has a bias against Collingwood; more particularly Eddie and Mick, which shows in up in any story she does about Collingwood.

Caro, go back to your original work and look at what you did then and compare it to what you do now.

You don't know whether they have done anything wrong and until we find out more details, neither does anyone else.

In the meantime, don't accuse the players of doing something wrong if you don't know for sure.

Caro, how much space did you give the "Richmond Player" that walked into the tram? How badly did the tram fare? If that were a Collingwood player e.g. Dids, Shaw, the "news" item would have gone on for months. How do you "walk" into a tram and get brain injuries? Not drunk? Not on drugs? No, just pity for the player.

Never mind that Richmond is your team, just give it to Collingwood. You are a joke!

Whatever happened to being innocent until proven guilty?

look up laws on rape, and you'll see why statistically, only 20-30% of male-female rapes are reported to authorities, and then why only 15% of those reach trial, and then why only 5% of those end in conviction...

statistically, beams and mccartny have nothing to worry about... that doesnt mean they are innocent...

'innocent until proven guilty' doesnt count when it comes to rape. often there is no evidence remaining, no witnesses, and the emotional scarring is too much of a burden on the victim to both report the case and then re-live the accusations through a lengthy trial...

think about if you were raped by your best mates dad when you were younger. how you would feel about going to the police, telling your parents, going to school and seeing your friends... sometimes its just easier to bottle it up...

here is some night time reading for you:

'innocent until proven guilty' doesnt count when it comes to rape.

Maybe the stupidest comment I have ever read, anywhere.:thumbsd:

It's a human right, well at least in the western world, that no matter what you have done, you are innocent until proven guilty, no matter what the crime is.

Or did I miss a change to human and legal rights as a whole?

soho, you are correct on most of that, but trial by media is still horrible. All it takes is the mere accusation of a sex crime to ruin a persons reputation, whether it ends up being true or false by the time facts come to lightt he damage is already done. Why don't we sit back and let due process take it's course without slinging more mud and trying to pour even more shit over two young players who are already neck deep in it?

Are you out of your mind??? There are enough false accusations made about high profile people already.

yeah, a girls claiming she was raped because she wants attention?

you're an idiot...

its not a question of her integrity, its a question of the players... another reason why most rape cases dont make it to court: the victim's character becomes the center of attention, not that fact that she/he was violated... if this case makes it to court, it will revolve around what she was wearing, how much she had had to drink, who she was kissing, why she went back to the house...

i guess we know where you and spida everitt sit: she wasnt there for a cup of milo, she was there for a group orgy...

um, and for the record, about 5% of rape accusations are found to be false.
