Team is named from the backline in ascending jumper number order.

But Melk at full back and Moose Heath providing drive off the half back flank would be intriguing.

Some positional things at the start of the game.

Cross playing half forward.

AMW half back along with Mentha.

XT deep in the backline early.

Heath rucking which is no surprise. All of the starting centre square mids were Casey listed players.

A very nice chase down tackle in the middle of the ground by Melk who is playing what looks like CHF style position.

Henderson also looks like he is playing forward of centre, along with Matthews and Laurie. Forward line is stacked with AFL listed players although I've not seen a genuine tall down there.

Adams is key back which is no surprise.

Berry looks to be playing in the backline.

Onley is playing forward and would be the tallest Melbourne listed player up there.

Mentha has been good early. Laid a nice tackle to prevent a goal and has had several reliable disposals coming out of the backline.

Billings playing for Footscray.

Adams has also made a good start with spoils, a mark and rushing a behind against a smaller opponent with a ground ball.

Billings for Footscray true to form misses a set shot from 45 out almost straight in front after a horrible turnover by Casey listed Bonner and Stanley.

Melksham busy early but his kicking has been a bit floaty.

Berry to Adama in the backline then up to Onley with quick hands to Laurie on the wing who finds Melksham at half forward. Nice piece of play. Melksham finds Casey listed Cheffers who kicks a pretty straight forward goal.

Jed Adams halves an aerial contest with Will Darcy and then a great second effort to smother what looked like an almost certain goal. This has been the most intensity I've seen from Adams which is a good sign.

Billings misses again! At least he's not doing a Trac and learning how to kick only once he leaves.

Henderson, Laurie and Cross have each had brief rotations in the midfield.

Footscray up 30-8.

Heath has been pretty serviceable so far. His disposal has been his only weakness.

Matthews has been buzzing around in the forward line but has had an "almost" quarter.

Cross converts a goal after the siren from winning a high contact free quite deep in the forward line.

Melksham a bit slow to get up off the ground, looks like a shoulder knock but doesn't immediately look too bad.
