How German rated the Melbourne listed players …
Reserves
Liam Jurrah – Liam was a bit up and down. He did some exciting things, which we know he can do, but he didn't do them often enough.
Kicks 9, Handballs 5, Marks 3, Tackles 4, Assists 7, Goals 1
Jake Spencer – Jake had limited game time after coming back from injury. He didn't have a massive impact on the game. It was more about having a run and getting back into the ruck duties. We expect him to progress forward, although he didn't have a great impact on the game.
Kicks 6, Handballs 9, Marks 5, Tackles 1, Assists 2
Rhys Healey – He was our best player in the seconds. Rhys got a lot of the ball, but he's still got to work on his ball use, although that's improving all of the time. He won't be too far away before he gets a call up to the Casey seniors.
Kicks 11, Handballs 16, Marks 4, Tackles 6, Assists 7, Goals 1
Trent Zomer – Trent played with more urgency this week. He played back and in the ruck and we gave him a bit more of a run around the ground. He made a few errors, which he's got to eliminate from his game, but his intensity improved.
Kicks 10, Handballs 7, Marks 4, Tackles 1, Assists 2

What the senior coach said … with Peter German
"It was pretty disappointing. We certainly had our chances and our endeavour was there. We won plenty of the ball and went inside 50 about 15 more times than Box Hill and we just failed to put goals on the board. We had about 15 opportunities to kick goals and we either missed them or didn't capitalise on our work and didn't get the points.
How German rated the Melbourne listed players …
Seniors
Rohan Bail – Rohan wasn't at his best this week. He had just eight or nine touches and we've become accustomed to his composure and his ability to win the ball in the back half. He didn't have the same intensity that he normally shows.
Kicks 4, Handballs 5, Marks 1, Tackles 3, Assists 3
Daniel Bell – Daniel was our best player. He was terrific, laying 11 tackles and had 24 possessions, while he did a lot of the work in the clinches and stoppages. It was his best game for us and hopefully he can use it as a real springboard.
Kicks 6, Handballs 18, Marks 2, Tackles 11, Assists 14, Goals 1
Simon Buckley – He was probably shaded a little by his opponent on the day. At times, he got pressured and didn't use the ball as well as he can. He's had a lay-off with injury, so we expect him to have a greater impact over the coming weeks.
Kicks 8, Handballs 7, Marks 4, Tackles 1, Assists 2
Daniel Hughes – 'Hughesy' was really good early, but he kicked 1.3 in the first quarter. I know he was a bit disappointed with his game, although he worked hard and his input was really good. He had 20-odd touches and took seven marks, but he would've liked to have got more from his work, as he kicked 1.4 and had a couple of other opportunities. I think he is making real progression though, with his marking ability and pace he's got.
Kicks 14, Handballs 7, Marks 10, Tackles 4, Assists 5, Goals 1
Mark Jamar – He was good, playing 50 or 60 per cent game time. He jumped really well in the ruck and although he may not have capitalised on some of his ruck work, he moved really well around the ground. He also took seven or eight marks. I was pleased with his first game back after a long layoff.
Kicks 7, Handballs 5, Marks 7, Tackles 3, Assists 4, Goals 1
Neville Jetta – Neville was in and out of the game. We probably would've liked a bit more consistency, but the role he played was an opportunist forward. He kicked 1.4 and could've kicked four goals. He laid six or seven tackles, so his defensive side of the game was good.
Kicks 11, Handballs 2, Marks 5, Tackles 6, Assists 7, Goals 1
Jordie McKenzie – Jordie was sound again. There is not much difference between his best or worst and he is a real competitor. He wasn't as good as some of his previous games, but his work-rate was up and I was pleased with the way he went about his footy.
Kicks 10, Handballs 10, Marks 3, Tackles 2, Assists 3
Tom McNamara – Tom was consistent again. He pushed forward late and kicked a goal. We think he's really starting to develop and he's been really consistent over the past four weeks. Back or forward, he's starting to show he could be ready for senior AFL selection, if he keeps going like this.
Kicks 12, Handballs 8, Marks 5, Tackles 5, Assists 14, Goals 2
Michael Newton – It was tough for Michael. The opposition pushed numbers back and he didn't have a lot of space to work with in the forward line. He's gone from kicking five goals against Coburg to two goals this week, from limited opportunities. He would've liked to have had a bigger impact than what he did.
Kicks 6, Handballs 2, Marks 2, Tackles 1, Assists 2, Goals 2
James Strauss – It was probably the hardest, quickest game he's played in his footy career. It's going to take him some time to adjust to the tempo of senior VFL footy. 'Straussy' was coming back from injury though.
Kicks 2, Handballs 4, Marks 3, Tackles 4, Assists 5
Jack Watts – Jack was paid close attention, but he will come under close scrutiny from the opposition. He found out VFL footy isn't an easy game to get a kick in, but he did some good team things at times. He just didn't have the impact that he did against Coburg.
Kicks 7, Handballs 3, Marks 3, Tackles 2, Assists 4
