I'm cashing in West later on down the track until maybe a good ruck option bobs up or until I desperately need money towards the tail end of the season...

hey guys

Looking to trade out trent west, and i was wondering if there are any good rucks from your club, or other clubs that will get a few games

looking at 83k or 72k players

cheers

There is no value in west. I'd trade players such as bird first, and wait for West to be dropped or someone to play a few games before trading him.

Not really any other options

Pfeifer (hasnt peaked)
Scott DT

Bird (using him in coming weeks for seperate trade)
Ebert

West
J.Tippet

Gamble
Tippet

The only one there who may be a trade is tippett

What about Hill down Happy. Maybe take the punt on Valenti as the number 9 forward and free up 160K. Valenti should be in over the next few if not this week.

No value in trading West out, as he has only risen 25K. Even trading in a 72K rookie (who you know won't get a game) for cash will only net you 36K. Plus there is no proven rookie ruckman to replace him (ie played two games). Way I see it, you wait for injury to decimate some poor team's ruck stocks, they bring in an 72 or 83K ruckman, he plays 2 games for 40-50 points, then trade West out. Otherwise, put him at the very end of your trade list out of your squad of 30, he should sit on the pine all season, and not come into trade equations. As above, any trade involving him will only net you 25K, so you're automatically needing a second trade for any upgrade. If you're that desperate for 25K that you will waste a second trade (ie West to rookie), you should downgrade your aspirations and go for someone cheaper (ie Kornes rather than Corey/Bartel). Trades are too valuable at the pointy end of the season to be burned for 25K.

I agree with you though that you don't really have any trade options on the pine - none of them have risen enough to be worth trading yet. So my advice would be, sit this trading round out, and wait for Pfeiffer, Bird, Gamble to put another 50K under their belts. SD Thompson may yet get another couple of games, ditto for Ebert, and Tippett should make another 10-20K over the next 3 rounds or so.

One of biggest lessons learned from seasons past is that just because I have two trades available to me on any given week and that there is low hanging fruit ripe for the picking, I don't have to take it. There will always be low hanging fruit through the season and you should only pick it when it is optimal to do so. Although if you have got to Rd 12 without spending a trade, you really SHOULD trade 2 players per week :p

Hm, my current forward line

Pav
Riewoldt
Brown
Cloke
Tredrea
Hill
Rioli

Gamble
Tippet

Was really looking at upgrading hill or tredrea to brad johnson

Can see Gamble putting a bit more $ on, but not Bird. I suspect he might be levelling off. I wonder if a trade to Armitage for him might be the way to go on the proviso that he has a decent game 2? Downside to that only about $20,000 gained - although more $ gained in future if an additional trade is done later. Not sure if worth it now I think about it.

thinking about what you said baxter, and strongly considering it

None of my rookies have peaked, so there is no need to trade them off, unless it is for another rookie who i think will do better in the long run, and i need the cash

so im thinking

Bird- Cotchin (after 2 games)
Tippet- Valenti (after 2 games)

Then
N.Jones- Gun
Hill- B.Johnson

:thumbsu: Look, I could be 100% wrong, so take it with a grain of salt, but I try to trade cows when they've finished mooing, or there is some tasty veal about to hit the market. But I think you've pretty much summed up exactly what I was trying to say.

I'd pull the trigger on Hill>BJ earlier though if he strings some games together; Hill is ripe.
