A Hawks supporter (one of about three in our bay) laughed when he got knocked out.

I almost threw my drink on him but it would have been a waste of my CC.
we sat behind a real H knob who was evicted from the ground after standing and applauding the KO on Miers. Really, he was lucky he wasn't attacked by frenzied Cats fans.

I noticed Nick Watson and a few of the Hawks players were doing a "Ja Morant" as a goal celebration and pretending to throw a grenade into the crowd and covering their ears.

I guess after his last shot at goal, Watson accidently held onto the grenade and threw the pin instead.
If you are going to cary on like this... Then be prepared to cop it off oppo fans and players... Even coaches...

Soemhow, i dont think they cab handle it both ways tho

Translation: Near full strength Hawks on their home ground (away) throws its best punches to undermanned cats defence and still fall short to a superior club and team. Not even sniping a player out of the game made the difference.
What a tragedy they dominated the game so much

Can't wait until we get Henry back. The highlighted section is L -> R. Contested Defensive 1v1 (total), Contested 1v1 Loss (total), Contested 1v1 %.

Some very good company Jack was in before getting injured.

Watched Knevitt closely... He plays in Cruise Control.
He lacks a Second Gear. Noticeable when tempo lifts.
Not sure if physical or mental, but a worry playing finals.

Someone mentioned he had an injured leg so that could explain it.

He's still young and has time but he has been poor the past fortnight. Not sure dropping him back to the VFL will achieve anything. He's done the apprenticeship at that level. Just have to hope it all clicks shortly.

I assumed he just didn’t get up for the VFL game he was named in. That sounds more plausible. He’s missed a lot of footy. Although I can see the appeal of bringing him straight in to free Stewart up to play some midfield minutes, I think it’s better taking a more conservative approach. If he performs in the VFL then bring him in against the Pies.
I'm not convinced that is it. If he was touch and go he'd have been listed as 'test' not removed from the list as available.
IMO they got spooked by Mullin under doubt as well as Stewart and pulled him and Clohesy.

Wouldn't we then list him as an emergency?

Bringing him in to play from outside the emergency list would result in a fine unless we made the change early enough to drop a player from the 22, being in Clohesy and as JK to the emergency list

Exhibit A your honour

That's why I don't like to attend Hawthorn games
Oh man, I would have loved to be at the game. It's one thing I miss about living in Vic, going to these sorts of massive rivalry matches.
Sitting next to d-heads in the crowd is expected for a hawks game. It only sucks when you're not the one laughing at the final siren.

He only just got passed breakeven for mine, couple of very costly mistakes.

You can tell he's been around the block. Most players would drop the head and doubt themselves after a couple of those costly turnovers but he didn't. In fact, he demanded the footy and thrived in the final minutes of the game.

Funny ol match of football.

It was very high pressure, but the skill level from both sides was still very poor.

I feel like this match was played on Hawthorns terms, with regards to the pace of the match for the first 3/4, but they still couldn't get over us. They needed the free flow of football and poor turnovers we gave them to catch our defence out of position often, and get shots on goal.

I thought our only real winners in the day were Atkins, Danger, Smith and Holmes at times. Yet we were still being smashed in clearances at some stages.....

I cannot believe that some media are giving mannagh best on ground, he cost us severely on numerous occasions.

A series of defenders got destroyed by Gunston as well....i noticed both sdk and O'Sullivan both playing him particularly poorly at times.

The taking out of Miers was pivotal, I hope Nash gets 4 for that!

Having said all that..... Great result!!!

Messy skills from both teams, but still an exciting game. A lot of hawks supporters are posting that they’re a superior team and should have won by a number of goals.

The hawks had a number of dubious calls/non-calls go their way, especially in the second half. The throw from a Newcomb’s 360 in a tackle was possibly the most obvious free kick ever missed in the history of Australian football. So, they had much more umpiring assistance, knocked out an important player (which I don’t think was accidental), the cats weren’t playing their usual level, and yet the hawks still lost the game.

Watching the hawks players constantly whinging to the umpires is a view into their culture. Some of the hawks fans have bought into this culture. Unsociable…I mean wtf.

Mannagh kicked a couple clutch goals but I thought hes played far better games, any time an opponent closes down on him he tries that smart arse inside out kick because hes got no left foot, turned it over 5 times I reckon.

Absolutely.
Cats player I got most angry at today = Mannagh
And O'Sullivan had a real reality check today. I hope it doesn't dent his confidence.

What I loved most seeing was the little things that showed our players just have each others backs in big games like this. O'Sullivan for e.g. looking to put a shepherd on instead of an easy possession when he was having a down game. Stanley trying to get OHenry a goal when he knew the kid was struggling for form. Close and Atkins just running their guts out all game to pressure and selflessly get every little bit of advantage they can for the team.

Haha from the Squarks board:

"I'm not even gutted that we didn't win.

I'm gutted that it's been almost 20 consecutive years of these cockroaches in the top 8. Just fed up with it.

I'd honestly take a few years of Adelaide, Fremantle, Gold Coast and North Melbourne as the top contenders just to see something different."

He's a bit inaccurate but I like the sentiment
