Just a poll to see which animal dominates BF posters homes. I've generally always had a mix of animals growing up, I now own 1 cat and thats it.

So out of boredom I was just wondering what people prefer? :thumbsu:

EDIT: I forgot to add an option for No Pets but oh well, im sure some people will state they have none anyway.

We've owned both cats and dogs, now we just have one dog (he's a kelpie though, so he's plenty excitable as it is).

I probably prefer most dogs to most cats, but occasionally cats can be cool. you need a feline with personality though, otherwise they're just selfish sh*ts.

Blues4ever, what an exotic beautiful name. Where did you come up with that LOL... Anyways I think Im much more a dog person but I have this incredibly gorgeous cat called Honey, and shes just stunning.

I'm a massive animal lover, vego, giver to animal charities. Love both, but for me right now cats are the ideal pet. They're much lower maintainence....give 'em 2 small feeds a day, a bit of a pat and attention here and there, and they're happy as larry. They need nothing beyond that. I haven't got time, or room for a dog atm. And my cat's cool as ****. Personality and character by the buttload....

Same here. Also, judging by your username, we have the same first name and barrack for the same club. This is getting weird...;)

Hard to split for me. If forced at gunpoint to choose, I'd probably say dogs, but only just. Each have their own unique qualities.

I prefer dogs. Much more affectionate, can be better trained to do a wider variety of things ... and in my experience, have better personalities. I generally like dogs and pocket pets, or at least ones that loved to be handeled.

There is no doubt dogs are the #1 pet. I've owned different kind of pets in my life; dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, mice, birds, lizards, chickens, guniea pigs, ferrets, hamsters ... so I'm pretty experienced as far as pets go. All the animals are unique in their own personal way (yes, they do each have their own personalities), but the dog by far shows the most and no doubt the best pet I've ever had.

Right now I have a black labrador and two rats as pets. I am considering getting a golden retriever.

Btw, you should've expanded your options to consider other pets rather than just lumping them in together. Small animals like rabbits and rats are actually very popular pets ... and make good pets, providing you get the right one. ;)

Cats and dogs will dominate of course, but it's also a lot better when you've experieced a wider variety of animals as pets.

I wish all cats would die.

Terrible animals.

I agree with Rick. Currently I have just a dog (my cat was killed a few months ago) and generally prefer dogs, but my cat had heaps of personality so he was cool (seeing the cat sneak across the yard to launch a running pounce at my rottie's head was always funny) . 'Normal' cats that just eat, sleep and lay around are boring.
