I can't stand cats, and I love dogs.

Until about 6 hours ago, I had one of each. Unfortunately though, my dog died this afternoon. Came home and found him lying in the hallway...heart attack

My vote is for dogs. Cats have a bad rep from my perspective because their owners are selfish.

Love my 2 dogs. Ones 12 years old, silky terrier and shes going as strong as ever. The other is a 4 year old Jack Russel and its absolutely mad. So much energy but great to play with and she loves to crawl up and be a sook as well.

cat suits my lifestyle , i can go for morning walk, beach work, movies etc without feeling at all guilty about a pair of pleading eyes begging me to take him/her too

I was lucky enough to have a non-boring cat (till he was mauled by someone's dog). Brought up as a kitten around my rottie (who'd in turn been brought up around my wife's previous cat so he never figured out that he'd grown large enough to be in charge).

Within two weeks as a kitten he went from terrified of the dog, to swiping him So there's this kitten barely big then my hand ruling a 40-50kg rottie.

He picked up growling whilst eating meat from the dog and instead of stalking birds would sit there 'cheeping' to them. Until our son was born, his usual spot to sleep of a night was on a pillow above my wife's head - lucky she's only 5'4 and wasn't pushed off the end. And woe to anyone who dared to walk around our house in white socks - instant foot pounce attack.

He'd often follow my dog on our walks for the first 50 or 100 metres before turning back, so once I tried taking him for a walk once for a laugh (put the lead on the cat, and the dog stayed by without one). I'll just say the cat wasn't impressed by the process and was in a huff for the night.

I will say cats do the best "I didn't stuff up and make a fool of myself, I meant to fall off that chair/table/etc. and land on my arse and am now going to walk off and pretend it didn't happen" routine.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. (Just gonna stick up for Cats here, as they usually get an unfair rep)... Dogs you do have to do so much for. God who needs that anyway? They poo everywhere (while cats thoughtfully bury theirs) and bark all the god damn time.

And people who say cats are boring, obviously just havent met the right cat. My beautiful babies (may they rest in peace), each had their own wonderful, individual personalities.

While I do like dogs (if I had the room and the money, Id love to get a German Shepard or a Lab), Cats are just my favourite.
