cefalu, you have prob said this already on this forum but i have followed your tips and you seem to know your stuff :thumbsu:
are you on the inside somehow??? perhaps one of the stables??
i noticed this with your "no bias i promise remark" in the saturday tips thread.

He owns Magic Instinct.
He also owns Perfect Drop, Character and Brilla Estrella.
He may own a few others as well but these are the ones i remember.

what % share do you have in these horses cefulu?

im not trying to take the mickey out of you but alot of owners go in these syndications and have like 1/500th of a share and rarely get big returns from prizemoney earnings. these owners arent there to make money, only there as an interest!!

Agreed horses not a great way to make money.
I think a point some maybe missing is that prizemoney is not the only way to make money in horse ownership.

While many do take little shares for an interest, the information gained from the stables can also be turned into $$$ if your smart about it. Little risk due to the small outlay but if the horses can be competitive, money can be made on the punt....... obviously dependent on the stable.

SOD might be looking for a rope now.
Frustrating animal.

Blinkers? One-eyed blinker?
I really don't know what they do with him.
Positive was he did make a staying race, & really threw it away himself.

Hey guys,

I'm certainly no Lloyd Williams. Its more of a family interest thing that has escalated from 1 horse to about 13 once the bug has bitten.

Percentages range from about 5% (Cefalu :o ) to 16% (New Kid) but most are around the 8-10 mark.

I tend to disagree with the making money on the punt bit, although we are having a fairly good run at the moment. The problem is everytime one of our horses steps out, you tend to be on it even though its not a realistic chance. True though, if you were smart you could make money laying horses when you know something.

I've answered a few PM's on this subject actually but I just love horses so any chat is good chat!

Your advice is very appreciated mate, you are having a nice run of late, lets hope Magic Instict runs straight this week though.

All the best.

You and me both mate, with the Sydney Cup looming as a very winnable race for whatever performs on the day it would be nice to see him running into the massive prizemoney on offer in the BMW.

Horseshoe Reef is in tomorrow but is slaughtered by the handicapper. Absolutely slaughtered.

As I said if your smart about it, you can make money on the punt.
Even you have stated that you tend to punt even though it's not a realistic chance.

If you have the discipline to bet properly only when you really know its a chance, then you should come out in front - brains before emotion.
Sometimes though I acknowledge this may be easier said than done.

Punters do not know the form of a horse & those competing against them like a 'cluey owner'. Deep down you really know if your horse is a chance or not.

This is true although it doesn't always pan out that way, we though MI was a moral 2 starts back and look what happened!

I think more money is to be made laying your own horses than backing them. Especially first up from a spell or when they have had a setback.

PS another day in the life of the most frustrating horse going around at the moment, Magic looks like missing a start in the BMW. (1st emergency)
Deja vu from the spring.

They have already accepted so we need a scratching now. He has been schooled during the week to sharpen him up and they are still contemplating which gear change, if any will be used this week. If he misses a run this week he will run in the Chairmans a week later but I'm keen to see him back up this week as the only time he has done that he was 'beaten' a lip in the Queen Elizabeth.

Also to be honest, the Chairman's is shaping as a comparitive field as the BMW for about 1/12th of the prizemoney, $50000 for finishing 10th is certainly enticing. I really think he will finish in the top 5 this week if he gets a run.

all the best mate hopefuly there's a scratching. will we be seeing cefalu anytime soon?

He is coming along nicely after an injury in pre-training and is being set for the Brisbane Cup. It's a shame they are reducing the distance this year though.

Off to the races today to watch our Cefalu impersonator actually, very similar horses.

The bloke that went around today at Sandown will be more suited don't worry about that. Haven't given up on old 'Ceff' just yet!

Magic will be scratched from the BMW even if he does fluke a start and will race next in the Chairmans Handicap on Easter Saturday.

all the best with perfect drop in the oaks tomoro cef, was pretty impressive in the knox. mite have a bit on it and blessed

Just on backing horses when you have a bit of inside knowelede, it's the same when you when you work in a stable. I am a strapper with a brisbane trainer and you tend to get involved in the horses therefore backing them every start whether they are a realistic chance or not. There is money in backing the ones that you know are your good horses if your smart about it.
