Hadn’t heard that but they did mis out on Trengove

I have heard there is a mass exodus of umpires like never before. Lots of talk clubs are poaching the better umpires as their own ‘Club Umpires’ just to get a decent umpire every week. More have just quit full stop as well.

Has anyone heard of a bit of an exodus at woorinen as well? Not quite on the lake boga scale but I know a few confirmed departures and rumours of quite a few more

Names ? Any quality leaving ?

A few will hurt them, some won’t but still have to replace them with someone else.
I know miller is gone, bzenic is playing somewhere in Melbourne, last I heard was Isma was going back to ultima, a few fringe players have gone to tyntynder as has Corey Kelly who last played for the tigers. There was a couple more names thrown at me that I didn’t know either, not sure if ones or twos players

Looks like Balranald got their wish and the board ousted Howden from the umpires. His job was advertised today. Maybe someone from Balranald will be in charge of the umpires next year

Heard from those at the meeting last night that both teams will be supplying a club umpire in Seniors with most likely only one Central Rivers Umpire they are that short. Our club in GR is really struggling to find umpires suitable for the standard required

The beginning of the end of football in the area if true. Blokes the standard of the Neagles, Jack Geary and other recruits this season aren’t going to keep coming up to be umpired by club umpires

Won’t be that bad will it? A lot of the club umpires will have previously done it for the league I would think. Clubs will pride themselves on finding good umpires

It’s just looks unprofessional.

We all know here that I’ve been horrible to umpires in my time and i regret it immensely but we need to find a way to keep them

Yep you can't have clubs buying top end talent to play there and having a club umpire

Umpires I have spoken to haven’t been contacted to ask if they are umpiring next year or not. I don’t know where they are getting the idea that there will be less numbers.
Golden rivers league used club umpires most weeks this year.

Mallee eagles shaping up alright. Have picked up stars at both ends.

Saw him play for Altona a few years back now, absolute gun. Would be getting on in age now and not sure how his body is going but if he’s even half as good as was back then he’ll still be a great pick up.
