If we assume that Adam's management really did get in touch with Tim then it raises some very interesting questions.
Is it that important to either Adam or his management that talk of him leaving early is crushed as quickly as possible from any source?
Why would that be? Does it reflect on character of the player to even suggest it, like talk of it is an insult? Could the club react poorly to it?

This whole Tim gossage thing just epitomises the problem with afl media. And to an extend modern journalism. Write an opinion piece but phrase and structure it in a way that it appears like news. Other news outlets pick it up and report it as if its news and **** suddenly a story from nothing.

The beauty is if what he is now saying is true then it blew up in his face quickly so he looks a fool.

Huge problem in our media and specifically our sports media is the reporting of ‘news’ that proves to be false.

Somewhere there’s been created an allowance for people in the media to report opinions, hearsay and rumour as fact and they are never dealt with.

You would hope journalists do the old school tactic of checking their sources and facts before ‘breaking news’.

The Cerra is ‘gettable’ story is pretty laughable if the fact is Cerra’s manager corrected Gossage. I mean that’s a fairly obvious source of information.

There was a time when such incompetence was dealt with by losing your job and respect.

Now these guys just lose respect, then get upset if people call them out on such things.

That said I think it’s a good thing BUT clearly different strokes for different folks.

Yarran’s issues and Bennell’s moments could both of been placed under the mental health issue, but sadly they weren’t afforded the opportunity.

On purely a human level I think how they’ve dealt with Ryan is spot on. Acknowledge and then let the noise die down.

One day Freo players, coaches and administration may be given the same allowance.
