Does anyone else think lynden dunn is a chad cornes in the making, the more i think about it the more he reminds me of him....Tall strong has pace good indurance great kick set shot or on the run and great hands. Now i know most of you guys have a hard-on for newton but dunn is my man.....cant wait to see him next year after another pre-season of hard running and more weights, he could play mid-field or even key postion back if we needed him too........A COMPLETE UTILITY IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD

p.s : chad cornes is the one player i gained respect for in ports disgraceful grand final performace, he looked like the only person in the whole team who looked like he belonged there (even though i dont like him as a person)

Personally i like the kid, but if he was anything like Chad Cornes, he would have played a few more games for melbourne. If u struggled to get a game for melbourne last year, your in trouble. It was only the end of the season when Daniher left he was given a chance

Didn't help that the people in charge were crackheads.

Got a feeling that he's goning to be a lot more prominant in 2008,thought he was more of a goal kicker though.

wow didnt know the majority of melbourne supporters dont rate him at all...... maybe i have just seen games where he has been impressive and by the way he didnt play much earlier in the year because he was injured not because he wasnt good enough. TO me he made an impact when he did play and did some very nice things. Remember he kicked 5 goals against freo in round 2 playing injured for half the game against fremantle. You cant play on one leg and still kick 5 unless u have talent.
Unlike Matthew Bate when he gets an injury doesnt he let everyone know he is ie: neitas 300th.
To me dunn is better than bate, harder, doesnt go to water when hes having a bad game. Better runner, more pace, doest shank kicks on a regular basis.
I'd even have dunn over newton (IM READY FOR THE BACKLASH BRING IT ON!!) Just watch for lynden next year he will turn it on

sorry that was round 4 against freo when dunn played well

I'm right there with you Dee-molition, I have high expectations for Dunny next year. Walked past him at the Richmond game this year, and I can tell you he has some size about him. A solid year on the weights could easily turn him into a KP prospect, while there is the option of getting the milage in his legs and play him as a tall midfielder, sorta Embley-esque. Either way I'd be very reluctant to leave him out of our best 22 from thi point in. The senior games he has played shows he has a smart football head and pretty good skills.

Surprise packet of 2008- Lynden Dunn.

I rate him as one of our most skillful players at the club. Now he just needs to get his 12 possession games up to 20 possession games.

but dunn is my man.....A COMPLETE UTILITY IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD

Haha I claimed Dunny after his first goal on debut against the Cats on that rainy night last year! Even got to meet him in the rooms after losing to Sydney last year. But yes, he definitely is (or at least will be) a utility, my only hope is that he doesn't have to play a tagging role like he did in the final few games this year - it's just not his role and anyhow, Bartram's the perfect candidate.

He can read the play really well and if he works on his endurance over the pre-season, he should establish himself as a regular starter. Should be allowed to stream forward too, has proved he can kick goals.

Lynden Dunn 20yrs 4mth - 192cm - 90kgs

Chad Cornes 27yrs 10mth - 192cm - 96kgs

The idea of Bailey turning Lynden Dunn into a Chad Cornes type role excites me he looks like a smart kid and if he has more game time im sure he will grow into a great player for our football club

it will obviously take time, but i can definately see lynden developing into that type of player... he has a great engine, can find the ball and is a goal kicker, even when playing in the middle...

all the talk is usually about bate and jones, but this kid will be just as good if he continues to improve...

I'm confident that Dunn will become a quality player for us. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and has a bit of mongrel in him (what do you expect when you play juniors for Moonee Valley FC).

Dunn got next to no game time whilst Daniher was there, whether he didn't rate him who knows. Now that Bailey is at the helm i hope that he gives him pletty of opportunity to see if it all comes together. Big off-season in the gym will deff help.

I thought he showed plenty in previous years when playing up forward so I was personally suprised not to see him get much gametime this year. Even more suprised when I saw him in the midfield, but it can work. Gotta give him a full year next year on a wing, resting up forward to take some pressure off Newton, Bate and Neitz. Hopefully Bailey does this

The kid is a star in the making...

I really like the way he goes about his footy, would really like him to put on a bit more muscle in the Pre season... and a real nice guy.

I would really like to see him played off the half back line as a rebounding half back but I don't think this will happen. For some reason I think his style of play would suit this??

I think that he'd be most effective on a wing or flank. He doesn't get much of the ball around the stoppages atm and gives away too many free kicks.

I think in the hands of a smart coach Dunn could be devastating. At the risk of alienating myself from all my red and blue brothers I too think he is a more exciting prospect than Newton. He may not take the great marks like Juice but he is tall and mobile and that is a good recipe for hurting the opposition on the score board. At the end of the day if all the players come together and complement each others play and exert forward pressure then that is the main thing I guess.

A Buddy-esque player perhaps?

A Buddy-esque player perhaps?
Now that would be good! :)

If we can keep Neita for a little while longer to take the top defender then Dunn can spend some time having a run around, kicking goals and building his confidence. Same with Robbo as well as that would give Newton a chance to get a better foot hold. We still need at least two more tall forwards though. Neita doesn't have too many years left and it only takes one or two injuries and your year is gone before it is started.
