Know how good he is, but at the moment just isn't up to it. An experienced player, needs to show it on the field. His skills this year have been far from his career best, and only finds it when he is on his own. Liked it when he came to the club, but injury free, he just squeezed into the best 22, squeezed.

When a club legend last year and (if only he wasn't a) Brownlow Medallist, Shane Woewodin got dropped due to his poor form from a senior and experienced footballer, Chad Morrison should get the same respect, or lack of it, by an omission, due to the way he is playing.

"Quality is better than Quantity"

For the last couple of years I've watched Andrew Embley carve us up. This year he had no impact, why? Because Chad shut him down and he did the same to Koutoufides. When all our working parts are together his role and jobs on match days will be more clearly defined. He's been a solid addition along with Caracella, a nice recovery because Bo Nixon was a bust.

Club legend???!!!

Anyway Morrison's played a couple of good games for us this season , but he really hasn't added a helluvalot overall to the team.

chad morrison is a solid player, i just think he needs to give a bit more each game. i would like to see him as a tarklyn locklyer type player.
but i tell u what i loved about the draft....BLAKE CARACELLA!!!! amazing player, cant believe how much he has brought to collingwood and strenghtend our line up. i would rate him in my top five pie players.

chad has been good for the Pies this season, but has tapered off last few weeks and hasnt had as great an impact as earlier in the season......solid acquisition though, and im not fussed at what we gave up to get him, practically nothing

a player with his experience, you would expect to turn his form around quickl,y and be likely to have a big impact against the Swannies

Recruited as a depth player, Morrison needs to be dropped to be reminded of why he was recruited - to be a depth player.

He and Caracella were intended to have a relatively short shelf life while the kids develop. Blake has been outstanding and has exceeded our expectations, while Morrison has been very good but dropped off in the past month.

I just don't get. Didn't then and I still don't now. WTF is the point? More of what has lost us so many games in the last year and a half and seen us fall short in two grand finals before that. It doesn't make any sense. I understand depth but if there is an area we already have depth in it is slow, average skilled, small/medium sized, dime a dozen, list fodder utilities with bald, flat tyres.

We need a Ferrari not another Camera.

Because you can just chuck Iaccobucci Egan Rusling H Shaw B Shaw Davies etc to the wolves. You still need to protect them by running experienced players around them.
Morrison was a neccessary recruit because of our mistakes in 2002/3 reducing the depth of our list. Morrison > McGough Nixon Shackleton Mullins etc and will be a handy short term fix until our 2004 and 2005 recruits with genuine speed take his place.

I get the theory but Morrison as slow half back does little for emerging midfielders and in any event there are other Morrisons on the list and I don't mean Billy.

As for depth it's a furphy. Until you have a squad of 25 capable of winning a premiership all depth will do is allow you to maintain mid range draft picks. Port got a premiership after 3 or 4 years with depth but they had start up advantage we can't emulate and now after losing a couple of their top enders they look average. Brisbane achieved a lot with depth maintained via extra salary cap. Essendon had some depth and it tore the club apart to stay within the cap. To go from their 1999/2000/2001 performances to 2003/4/5 is testimony to that. If you aren't good enough to win a flag depth is counter productive but even if you are good enough it is a double edged sword. It maintains average performance and eats salary cap better spent font loading to buy a target player for draft picks.

Caracella I understand because he brings something we lack. Morrison brings more of what we need less of.

So what your saying is that you want Bo Nixon back. I'm sorry but I've seen Bo play and I'm happy he's wearing a different colour jumper.
