Best series of games ever made. I've owned every edition of CM since CM3, and it's worth shelling out the dosh each year. I've also owned a few of the EA Sports Manager games - wow, look, you can decide to buy pitch covers or not...

At the moment I am managing WBA in CM4, but because I have the latest update, they were in Division One. I took them to the premiership in my first year (conceded only 28 goals), and I just finished my first season in the top flight: 15th. I conceded the second least amount of goals, but I scored the least too.

I have brought in Mark Viduka, Steve McMananananananaman, Alfonso, Paulinho (a youngster from Arsenal), and a host of cheap, young Swedes. I've just launched bids for Paul Robinson and Djordjic from United.

What do you call me, Clucas? ;)

Running Enhancement Pack 5??

According to fansites, it is pretty easy to win with earlier versions of CM4

Anyway, i took Sheff Wed straight back to Div 1, won the Div 2 title by a country mile (100 points in a season), best attack, best defence. Scored 99 goals in total for the league.

All of this, with ZERO transfer funds.

I was Wigan in division 2 and brought them to Champions League victory in 4 seasons. This is what my first 5 seasons looked like: (Div2 1st, Div 1 2nd, Premier League 15th, Premier League 2nd, Premier League 1st)
That would be impressive if Wigan weren't repeating it in real life ;)

CM4 is too slow
I have 1.1ghz processor and 128 MB RAM (could do with an upgrade to 512 I know) and it's so slow I wiped it and haven't bothered.

Love the game but spending an hour on it to play 2 preseason friendlies and make some signings is ridiculous.

Just got through a second season in the Conference. First time I have ever completely two seasons without getting sacked. Heading into my 3rd year now after finishing 12th and 16th in my first two years. Hopefully I can move up the table now. BTW Im with Southport.

I haven't played since a game I had with Tranmere. I won the second division easily and was sitting pretty on top of division 1 with 6 or so games left. The computer ****ed me over, every game I would get someone sent off or get a penalty awarded against me followed by "that looked harsh". I ended up 4th and lost in the semi finals of the playoff with a 86 th minute goal  The Wolves would be proud.

I like taking teams with a good base (Blackburn, West Ham, Sunderland) and turning them into worldbeaters, not all that challenging though.

Exactly my situation, I want to play CM4 but it's just so slow...actually I need 2 hours to play 2 pre-season friendlies and make some signings. ;)

I found that not choosing the Full Detail option and fewer leagues at the start can really boost the speed

Yeah, this version seems more tactics based, which is good.

I do have Enhancement Pack 5, by the way.

I used to play CM a few years ago (CM2 and CM99/00) and loved it. I'd hate to think how many hours of my life I've wasted playing it. Biggest achievements were taking Hartlepool to the Premier League and Prato from Serie C2 to Serie A.

I've thought about buying CM4 but the problem with slow speed has always put me off.
