Yeah, they probably do mean the group stages.

But it's not the biggest win in Champions League/European Cup history though. Manchester United once beat Anderlecht 10-1. I also remember Rangers spanking some Armenian outfit 12-0 or something like that (although I think that may have been a qualification match).

Dado Pršo replaced Fernando Morientes right before the match started as Morientes was apparently injured. 4 goals by Pršo is one hell of an effort, and I had damn Morientes in my fantasy team!

Lazio are lucky to only get away with a 4-0 loss, Crespo should have had a hat-trick by half time.

Didn't see the game, but sounds like we dominated.

You'd think that Chelsea only needs a draw to advance now.

Hurting REAL bad

Bayern lose 1-2 at home to French side Olympique Lyonnais.

The scorer Giovane Elber, who still owns his house in Gruenwald.

I'm totally shattered about this. My worst nightmare.

Bayern just CANNOT afford to not make the next round in Europe. Our reputation as one of the great club will be permanantly tarnished.

a depressed and hurting JF  :(

I found the result funny enough as it was especially with Elber scoring but after reading this post the grin has juts got twice as wide on my face.

It's always nice to see Fritzy getting a bloody nose.

Why don't you go and sing a rendition of "No surrender to the IRA" you frigging Arschwichser yob!

My club has done more in the last 20-30 years that all of England put together.

Great effort that-inventing a sport and only winning its Weltmeisterschaft once (and that with a goal that never went over the line).

And who is Fritz by the way?

I'd rather sing '2 world wars one world cup, doo-da'instead.

Yes one of the greatest of efforts was when your captain Lothar Matthaeus did a Nazi salute & later pontificated on what a good chap Hitler was.

Or what about the 1975 European Cup final in Paris where your club bribed the referee & managed to cheat a win against a vastly superior Leeds side.(& if you try to put up some arguemnt against this then I suggest you watch a tape of the game)

Well I would have thought it was a pretty good effort inventing this great game, as well as rugby, tennis, cricket ect ect, next time you're sitting there enjoying watching those boring krauts play our game maybe you'd like to consider what a hypocrite you are in the way that you're a blatant pommie basher who hates all things English but yet you love the beautiful game that we gave to the world.

If you really hated us as much as you make out then you'd refuse to watch it & instead you'd put your lederhosen on & get your boyfriend to slap you on your arse.

He sure is Stammy I'm not sure I can handle him that's why I'm thinking of setting you loose on him because I know what you're like when you get your teeth into somebody.;)

When you have results like the Monaco-Deportivo La Coruña one, who said soccer was boring? That's part of the beauty of the sport, you never know what's going to hit you!

Just on Monaco, did I read that they are able to pay their players tax-free, so they have a massive financial advantage over the other French clubs, who are now kicking up a stink about it?

Good to see some non-Leeds people know of this. Must say even though Man Utd won the CL it was great to see Bayern lose, also loved Lyon's effort in mid-week, made that little bit sweeter by the fact my missus follows em. :D

Ahh yes

United 0 - 1 Bayern after 90 mins

United 2 - 1 Bayern at the final whistle.

The footage of Sami Kuffour belting the Nou Camp turf lives on :D

Oh and lets not forget Germany 1 - England 5 either shall we?

Hey, I'm an Aussie, so the latter does not apply.

Yes, Barcelona was very distressing. The only matches that have hurt more were the Socceroos losses to Iran & Uruguay.

But I assume as you are only a troll out to annoy people Stam, you'd be happy that somebody actually replied to one of your posts.

And Dipper, once again you have unearthed the incredible inferiority complex of the average English football yob when it comes to anything German. But still when the national team of your country underacheives World Cup after World Cup, I can understand your complex.

You also say that Lotthar Matthaeus is a ********. I do not recall the Nazi quips, but recall similar embarrassing outbursts in the past. He is no longer connected with the Saeberner Strasse. There is a reason for that.

JF, hoping for a turnaround in FCB's fortune tonight at the Olyschuessel in the Knaller against Borussia Luedenscheid.

When I think FCB I think of Barca.

Nobody around here gives a sh1t about your Bayern Munchen, go try your sob stories on BigSoccer where you might get some sympathy.

By the way, who put the ball in the Germans net?? :D

Who said I was looking for sympathy. I'm not out to troll anyone either, just to get involved in discussions about football.

Not everyone follows the English or Scottish Premier Leagues, or Polish 1st devision for that matter.

And just for you, Bayern beat Borussia Dortmund 4-1.

I look forward to the Celtic match at Parkhead with a little more confidence than I did yesterday.

Well before you start trying to protray me as a) a yob & b) someone who hates the Germans I better stop you, firstly I'm only responding to your original anti English prejudice, thinking about it I should have just had a pop back at you without saying anything remotely anti German but I lowered myself to your level & for that I'm ashamed, you see when it comes to Fritz I'm more than aware that ethnically as an Englishman with an Anglo Saxon surname that somewhere in the region of 1/4 or 1/3 of my 'blood' is of German origin.(it's probably the part that influenced me to have a mullet in 1986).

For me the football rivalry between the two countries is a friendly one, I don't hate Fritz & I don't think he hates us.3 world cups, good luck to them it's something to be proud of, unfortunately England's best years were when there wasn't a WC to play for or in the 30's when we felt it was beneath us to participate, an unfortunate error but what can you do?

So you say that we have an inferiority complex where anything German is involved so how do you explain your hatred of all things English?

Anyway as for football the last time I looked we were smashing you 5-1, now where was that match played again......................

You don't get it, do you? I'm an Aussie. The last time we played you I think we whipped a fairly decent 3-1 scoreline. Wasn't a half bad old match, that one?

Why do English football fan get up my craw so much. I just get fed up with the mentality that the English game is all that matters. Anbd that anything ekse is somewhat "****y" or "inferior". Like what group of fans would rock up to Euro 2002 to sing at the locals "If it wasn't for the English, you'd be Krauts" or "No surrender to the IRA scum" as they took on police. It is not all football fans that earn my craw, just the sad yob mentality you seem to get with the English National team, spured on my the gutter press, that have NO shame and very little dignity.

Hence seeing them beaten provides me with great joy. As egos get deflated every 4 years.

I'm an Australian. As far as that go, that means that England must be supported against, always, everywhere, against everyone.

In parting here is a little ditty I heard sung recently

"Shim shiminny
Shim shimminy
Shim Shim Sharoo
22 Englishmen beaten by two"
