I honestly think we are a reasonable chance to make the Grand Final.

GEE v STK
ADL v COL
SYD v KAN
HAW v WB

STK v ADL
WB V SYD

HAW v ADL
GEE
v WB

GRAND FINAL
GEE v ADL

This sort of prediction shit never happens and probably won't, we might lose in the first week but I think we have a reasonable chance of making it. If we made it we would probably get spanked, although we were supposed to get spanked in 1997 and 1998 as well in which we finished with 13 - 9 record in both seasons.

I know it’s a cliché but one game at a time. No game at this time of the year is a certainty

Let’s get over Collingwood first before worrying about who we have to play next.

The same thing was said last year...
Yep. I'd already locked us in last year because we had a dream run based on our previous history against our prospective opponents.

It turned out better for all concerned that Port made it instead. :D

If we win one final that's an improvement over last year, despite massive player list upheaval. That's a successful season, and I expect the Crows to have successful seasons every year, so I expect us to at least beat Collingwood and then challenge St Kilda.

Next year I expect us to finish top 4 and make a prelim with a realistic chance of winning it.

The AFC is the greatest club in this competition and we'll prove it by achieving success without intermittent years of abject failure.

I’m through making such predictions…last year I was certain that we face Port in the prelim, flog them and go on to beat Geelong in a thriller…predictions at this time of the year are just too heartbreaking when you’re as hopelessly faithful as yours truly :o

I can seriously see you blokes challenging Hawthorn in the Prelim.

Coz they will beat the Dogs this week.

Geelong Vs Adelaide GF would be pretty interesting - especially if it was a wet day....

Unpredictable....

You guys will beat the pies coz they are a rabble and the Saints are the WORST top 4 team Ive ever seen!!

Each individual game we are a chance to win... But to win all 3?

Adelaide v Collingwood 50/50
St Kilda v Adelaide 50/50
Hawthorn v Adelaide 30/70 (make it 20/80 as Hawthorn would have had the week off).

Makes it a 5% chance that we make the GF. I'm happy with those odds... Probably prefer we don't make it if it's going to be anything like last year's tbh.

I get the feeling St Kilda will do better than the Gold Coast Roos though, they were the worst top 4 side I've seen last year.

Bottom line is that in recent years, we've struggled in finals. With Collingwood coming into town to play at a venue which has produced much success for them, that could be it for us in 2008.

Your a good chance to beat us but St.Kilda and Hawthorn 2 weeks in a row is a big ask don't you think?

Assuming we win this week, I like our chances against the Saints if its at the MCG. T Dome is still about 50/50. Hawthorn or the doggies (imagine that!?) in a prelim will be a huge ask though.

I think given our history that this weeks game is a 50/50 shot. Recent history against st kilda says even if we win that, then next week we will struggle. The we have Hawthorn who we couldn't beat even with just about everything going right for us when we played them at home.

We are a chance, but a very very small one. Last years run was much easier, but as Vic Crow said, it couldn't have really turned out much better anyway.

i think i remember an almost identical thread this time last year
we lost first round

we have to beat Collingwood (who we tend to struggle against)
then St Kilda (who flogged us 2 weeks ago and are in red hot form)
then Hawthorn (second best team in the league and who knocked us out last year)

Let's put St Kilda's "red hot form" into some perspective. They flogged Fremantle and Essendon who are both very ordinary teams this year (Essendon by virtue of a horrendous injury run), and they caught us on a day when we chose not to turn up. We know we are better than the effort we showed against them.

whatever way you look at it we still lost by 48 and they more than doubled our score
they won by 108 yesterday which in anyones book (well definitely mine) is red hot form

A team of geriatric one legged patients would have beaten the Bombers by that much yesterday. :p
