Out Burgoyne, Duursma, Lord
In Jonas, Bonner, Marshall

Maybe think about pushing Bergman up the ground and playing Burgoyne but Bergman is way too good back and Burgoyne was poor.

Burgoyne, Teakle and Lord are not up to scratch but it depends on who comes in.

Teakle I think we have to persist with and see if the game slows down a bit for him and he gains some composure.

Lord is out for Marshall assuming Dixon can get up with the longer break.

Burgoyne is the interesting one for me. Jonas is the obvious in but he is cooked and also upsets the balance. I’d like to see Lachie Jones given that role for a period to see if he can settle into a role.

Durrsma out inj opens a spot for Bonner.

It will be

In: Marshall, Jonas
Out: Lord, Duursma

Bergman back to the wing
Can see this happening but think it’s a mistake. Bergman has looked so much more comfortable off hbf. Struggles on the wing. Maybe Burgoyne to a wing? Or Lord stays in and we play Dixon/Marshall/Lord fwd and Finlayson on a wing.

I really didn't think Teakle was all that bad.
Competed well first quarter and a half, was dreadful second half. Would've subbed him in the second half if we hadn't lost Duursma. He was a genuine liability at one point.

Teakle has to come out. A solid tryer but unfortunately not AFL standard.
So you replace him with somebody who's even further away from AFL standard?

Teakle is bad but at least he's a) young and b) capable of moving around an AFL field without looking like a 40 year old. Lycett shouldn't play for us again unless Teakle, Hayes, Visentini, Dixon and Finlayson are all injured at once.

Ideally I would love to see Visentini play, I still think he will be our best ruck.

But he is stuck in no man's land in the sanfl. Hayes leads the ruck there even if they seem to have stamped his papers. Lycett gets dropped and he leads the ruck.

Dante needs to lead the ruck in the sanfl to get the kms into his legs and to run, jump and crash bodies all over the ground.

He would blow up at AFL level like Lord and Teakle if thrown in to lead the ruck now.

Otherwise persist with Teakle and see if he works out that he can play.

They're just waiting for Lycett to show something to bring him back.

Yeah teakle is a shithouse ruck, can’t play football whatsoever, but if they won’t play Hayes, and they’ve made it clear they’re burning his career not even letting him ruck in the sanfl… we’re stuck playing teakle for now.

Lycetts cooked. To be honest I think he can be more competitive than teakle even as absolute dogshit he is now, but it’s still necessary for us to move on from lycett and not waste games into a player that’s done.

We're wasting time even playing Lycett as lead ruck in the SANFL. He has no present or future as an AFL player. Leave him to rot in a forward pocket and let Hayes and Visentini split the ruck role.

Might be time to bring T-Rex Lobbie the Lobster back in….

Nah - young players like Teakle just need AFL games, even older players out of form sometimes need games. I think Rioli is starting to ramp up, Boak took a few games to get going. We need Ollie to keep building.

The team is fairly settled - just beat the top team away. I’d go Marshall in. Lord out. Jones in. Duursma out.

I reckon Lachie Jones could play the third tall (or Burton), but he could do with a settled spot - needs consistent AFL games. I think Ken stuffed up trying him in the midfield and forward, and he should be looking at becoming like a Maynard type with more speed.

IN Hayes, Sinn, Farrell, Marshall

Out Teakle, Duursma, Bonner, Lord
Farrell and Sinn are both very unlikely. Farrell has a broken jaw listed as 2-3 weeks, whilst Sinn is still building form following missing most of last year.

I wouldnt change the ruck. Neither Teakle nor Hayes do enough around the ground. They have picked Teakle, just run with it now and give him a chance to build.

Expect to see Marshall and Jonas for Lord and Duursma. Burgoyne will drop out as well for a different sub. (Never said it’s the right call….)

IN Hayes, Sinn, Farrell, Marshall

Out Teakle, Duursma, Bonner, Lord
Hayes is just a traffic cone, Sinn is not fit enough and not showing any form and Farrell will be out for a few more weeks...................other than that your changes are good.

I thought Teakle was a bit better this week however was still beaten by the statistically best player on the ground both weeks. We looked better in the middle each time he was off the ground.
Despite Lycett offering nothing offensively, at least his opponent won't be best on ground each week.

That’s all we can do. Lycett & Hayes have had lines drawn through their name, Dante would currently be a disaster as he’s not ready, so Teakle is the man. If we keep on persisting with Teakle, and I think we should, by game 10 of his 2023 career he should be showing glimpses of his potential Let’s say Round 16, us against the Bombers @ MCG.
I’m hoping that we will be pleasantly surprised.🤞🤞🙏🙏
I do not mean any disrespect for Dante but he need solid rucking workouts in the SANFL to be able to put his name forward For an AFL gig.

Lord’s game last night was probably effected by Dixon being back.

Dixon is stuffed, he looks like he’s about to keel over, Ken said on radio Lord can help out with ruck too so he may keep his spot.

Bonner comes in for X man.

Duursma injured plus Teakle, Lord and Burgoyne passengers last night.

I do not see an improvement for Teakle but Bonner for Duursma, Marshall for Lord and Jonas for Burgoyne look to be obvious changes.

I would like to give Hayes or Visentini a shot at it but if they are not performing in the SANFL they are not going to improve the side. If we were smart we would leave Williams in the starting 22 in place of Jonas but we all know that will not happen.

OUT: Duursma (inj), Lord, Burgoyne
IN: Bonner, Marshall, Jonas.

Footnote: for the record Brynn Teakle did not take a mark around the ground last night, he didn't have kick and only had 8 handballs and 18 hit outs to his name. His opposite number had 26 disposals, 8 marks and 28 hit outs. Stats wise Teakle's effort last night was far worse than the West Coast game where he had 34 hit outs and 14 disposals. I realise that stats do not always tell the full story but on last night's effort we may as well put Lycett back in the side.

Ollie Lord has to do more than he did last night. Dixon did more on one leg than Ollie did on two and if Lord's game is going to be affected by Dixon's presence it is not going to get any better with both Dixon and Marshall up forward. If big Charlie is fit then a straight swap of Marshall for Lord seems the way to go.

There's one spot between Burgoyne, Jonas and Farrell. Could make a case for either, but none too inspiring.
I'm just about on my own here but think Mac has done enough to stay. Teakle probably gets the nod for at least a few more games. I thought he was well beaten by a good ruck but wasn't anywhere near as bad as the group think

Teakle had potential, and has shown glimpses of being a mobile tall, to improve with more experience at this level and seems athletic and mature enough to work through getting smashed by his direct opponent in the short term til he finds his place. Playing Lycett only helps today, not tomorrow.

In: Captain, Marshall.
Out: Duursma, Lord/Burgoyne

Ideally I'd sub Burgoyne, Bonner to Duursmas wing, and bring in Marshall for Duursma and go a bit taller up forward, though I have no idea how this matches up against the bombers through the midfield/defense.
