Moving on quickly!

Hope the guys recover well from the long flight back.

From the presser, Smith and Iles should be good to play. Nothing serious at all. Smith got a bit of concussion.

Bocky only went out cause he had something bad to eat this morning... when nature calls, I guess? So he's fine.

Stanley is good too, wasn't even mentioned as injured.

Fraser has a bit of a foot injury apparently that he got mid-week... see how we go with that.

Sam Day out for 2 weeks or so with his injury.

Bluey also hinted that Bennell will likely get a run given his amazing form in the ressies lately (in the teams best), and Dixon for sure. He anticipated 4/5 changes this week. Dunno what they'd be So! I'd go something like...

Out: Day, Gorringe, Jolly, Russell
In: LYNCH, Dixon (11 goals is hard to ignore, and does more than Gorro), Bennell, Weller

Like the look of Wilkinson.. he loves to rough it up! I smile when I see it. So would keep him in. We look much better with Weller I think, too... love his dedication to the ball. Really hard at it.

I actually don't mind Russell, but would like Bennell to take his place to see how he goes. Jolly hasn't impressed me at all, I'm afraid.

--

In other news, we have the next THREE out of 4 games at home! How good is that! And the one away trip is against the Tiges up north. Granted, the home games are going to be tough, but I'm sure the boys will love the chance to not travel for a bit. :)

Depending on match-ups / injuries:

IN: (From) Rischitelli; Dixon; Bennell; Liddy; Thompson; Lynch
OUT: (From) Day; Fraser; Tape; Shaw; Russell; Gorringe

Will need experience V Sydney (will be a hard one).

Out: Day, Gorringe, Tape, Shaw, Russell, Prestia/Jolly

Ins: Dixion, Rischatelli, Harris, Liddy, Bennell, Lynch

Again Day couldn't get near it... 2 marks for the entire game from our only key forward just not good enough. But out injured for a few weeks now anyway. Day should never has played infront of NAblett against Freo based on performance but that is another story ;):thumbsd: Dixion to replace Day this week.

Tape had an absolute shocker... didn't get a single kick for the game, his second efforts were terrible and his opponent Fyfe ran riot. Based on performance he should be dropped and those showing the grit and determination in the reserves given another opportunity. Liddy his replacement this week.

Shaw & Russell to both return to the reserves/be rested and make way for Rischitelli and Lynch.

If both Fraser/Smith pull up ok this week, then Gorringe must also return to the reserves and Bennell to come back to provide some leg speed.

And finally Harris must come back in to give GAblett a hand in the contested possession count. No one feeds the ball out of the packs better than Harro. Jolly or Prestia to make way depending on who is next due for a rotation.

Our forward line was an embarrassment after half time. No marking options, no leads, and a lot of the time no one there at all?!! :thumbsd:

This week I think we might see something like:

HF: Bennell, Lynch, Stanley
F. Matera, Dixion, Fraser

although in dreamland I would much rather see...

HF. Bennell, Lynch, Stanley
F. Matera, NAblett, Dixion

...and rotate Rucks Fraser/Smith via the bench instead of the fwd pocket. Lynch and NAblett to be the leading forwards and simply leave Dixion sitting in the square for the long bomb/one on one marking contests. Bennell/Matera/Stanley to crumb the hell out of the packs and to hold the footy inside our forward line.

Well if you want to see if he is serious about football, pick him for that one.

Do we play you again?

Would be a monty to go walkabout if picked to play against us, I reckon.

yes Skilled Stadium, so I'd be playing every old player we have...it worked with Podsiadley!

Back to this week.
Any news on the Bockinator Smith or Fraser?

Bock should be fine come the weekend. Smith is all set to go too. Fraser I'm not too sure on, however. May see him miss.

Iles should also be fine, but wouldn't be surprised to see him rest a game. Maybe Bennell in for him?

Sunny,
Do you live with these players??

Sunny,
Do you live with these players??

Haha! No. Although I do stalk them constantly. :D

And by stalk, I mean ... something more legal than stalk.

Bocky should be all good to play, you'd think? His stomach thing was so mild that he could play through it (after he relieved himself). Bluey said in the presser that he'd be back next week, and just ate something that didn't settle with him. Although I did read the word 'stomach virus' as his injury on an article and sort of tilted my head a little. Dunno if they know anything more, or are just speculating.

Big ol' Zac Smith has said on Twitter a few times after the game that he's fine and feeling great. Just a hard hit in the head. No jaw problems or anything. Just wasn't all there to play the rest of the game.

Also mentioned in the presser was that Iles would be good to go, after having the foot looked at. But again, I wouldn't be surprised to see Iles rested. He's played every game thus far, hasn't he? It's been shown that selection people rest the senior players who even have a hint of an injury coming up, just to save them for the rest of the season. So yeah. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

I think this week going off the potential In's most of us have selected/available we could field probably our strongest side this week?

I best 22-25 players is probably starting to take shape which is a positive and probably another 5 or so players in the 2's playing reasonably consistent and a high standard at the state level which is providing us a solid foundation to grow over the next 24 months.

All positives!! I'm just glad we dont have too many injury concerns considering you look at some of the other clubs, Adelaide, Hawthorn and our younger bodies seem to be managed well.

Yep I think your right with those injuries, Iles, Day, Fraser to miss, Bocky/Smith fine. Btw Iles hasnt played every game. Missed the first 4 weeks but has played since then.

Id like to see:

Day out for Lynch
Gorringe out for Dixon
Iles out for Liddy (only if unfit)
Jolly out for Bennell
Russell out for Harris
Shaw out for Thompson

Tape Bock Hutchins
Brown Thompson Harbrow
McKenzie Harris Brennan
Stanley Lynch Bennell
Matera Dixon Prestia

Smith Ablett Rischitelli

Hunt Swallow Wilkinson sub: Liddy
EMG: Weller Shaw Krakouer

Quite a hard bodied team. Thompson going to the 2nd tall up forward frees up Campbell Brown. Rory is a great prospect, been performing regularly in the NEAFL so deserves his shot. Can pinch hit in the ruck also helping out Smith.. Keep Dixon at ff, he seems to get lost if he ventures up the ground too much

Tape holds his spot for his versatility down back. Had Fyfe last week so a tough matchup. Offers something different to guys like Hutchy/bock etc.

Looks like Sam Day is out for 4-6 weeks at this stage. Article can be found here. Pretty much the season for us, I think? Bummer. :( He's a handy guy to have if either Lynch or Dixon wanted a rest. To be confirmed, though.

Others are...

Fraser, the veteran ruck-forward recruited from Collingwood, continues to battle with a foot injury that has troubled him for much of the season.

Fraser is also listed to have a fitness test tomorrow but the expectation is he will also miss a week.

The other players hurt during Saturday's loss to Fremantle are all expected to be available for selection.

Zac Smith, who injured his sternum in a heavy collision is showing no ill-effects and is considered an almost certain starter while Danny Stanley was cleared of a foot injury. Captain Gary Ablett was nursing a corked thigh but is also considered a guaranteed starter.

Do you think they meant Sammy Iles instead of Stanley? Did Danny do his foot? Can't remember that.

The other player to have repeated absences from the field was Nathan Bock.

It has emerged he was suffering from a stomach bug that he may have passed on to coach Guy McKenna.

Poor Bluey. :D

Hope Smith goes up alright against Mumford. That guy is a beast of a ruckman.

IN: Rischitelli, Dixon, Bennell, Weller, Harris
OUT: Russell, Stanley (rest), Day, Fraser (rest), Tape

Leave Gorringe and Smith to ruck, Bennell in as sub.

EDIT: Crap forgot about Harro

Rest Stanley !!!!!!! - No rest for the bull he is raging right now. !!!!!!!!!!
Hope Rischitelli is ok for this week. Harris should also come in along with Dixon (Day sounds like an out). Not sure about Weller - all the hype surrounding him not really warranted. Good game in Tasmania that is about it.
What about Tippett how is he going anyone know... ?????

Tippett is a rookie and not eligible for selection. Likely delistee come seasons end also.

What's the general consensus, better chance of winning this week compared to last week?

I hope you guys cause the biggest upset of the year so far.

I would have thought that (normally), we would be a better chance against Freo, even at Subi. But you throw in the rain, no interchanges in the last quarter(well, not many) and no Rischitelli and it becomes a totally different game.

It's so hard to see where Sydney are at. They have this mythos of being a top 6 side, yet are relying on this match to stay in the 8. Ladder-wise, Freo are actually better than them. So logic dictates that we would have a better chance this week. But we'll see!

The odds are lower than I thought they'd be, and all predictions I've seen is Sydney winning by 18 or so. Again, lower than I thought it'd be.

Hope everyone can pull up well, and Sydney keep missing their shots on goal. If they do, we're in with a shot I think. Lynch and Rischitelli all rested up!

Interesting to note, Sydney rarely blow any teams out of the water when they win. The exception to these being Brisbane (50 something point win) and Port, (70 something point win). You'd think that Sydney are thus far better than the bottom 4 and only blow them away... but Adelaide BEAT them. Kinda weird to think about. Anyone else get what I'm trying to say? Haha.

Nah. No idea Sunny ;)

I do really. :) The Swans definitely have the potential to beat us by 50 to 70 points, like they have with the other bottom teams. However, if they don't play near their best & we do play near ours, we're in with a chance.

Realistically, we are as good as any side it appears so far this year. We just cant sustain it for longer than 10 minute patches, and can probably only play about 60-75 mins of quality football.
Thats why we are so exciting, you just never know when we're going to play 80, 90, 100+ mins of top footy!
But our best can compete with Geelong, and with majority of teams we've played, its our endurance in the young fellas and a smidge of luck.
Depending on our changes, I think we're a pretty good shot this weekend to get our first win. Sydney's strenght for about 8 years or so has been their ability to hold the ball up. Well our strength is our clearances, so our strength counter attacks their strength.

Am I nuts thinking we are pretty good shot at our first win at transformer stadium this weekend?

This will be a tough game after seeing what Sydney did to us at Southport in the pre-season. They are a very experienced and (normally) well-drilled side, with bigger bodies and a bloke named Adam Goodes. Plus it looks like a few of their stars are due back as well - Jack and Mumford in particular. This game will be another good measure of how far we've come this year. Hoping for Lynch and Dixon to come in and someone to kick a bag for us.

that's what keeps us coming back week after week with our flags and scarves...cos we're nuts.
We were offered a corporate box for the Reds final but turned it down for Metricon this Saturday.

That's funny right thar.

Yeah thats a bit nuts there Sandy...

I'll swap my Suns seats for the Reds final seats :D

I have to go to a friend's birthday dinner Saturday night, so unfortunately I won't be able to go. For the team's sake, I hope we win our first at Metricon, but for my sake, I hope it can wait a bit. D:

Hopefully we will be getting Smith, Malceski and Jack back from injury while Mumford will definitely be back in after being out for 2 weeks suspended. 4 very important players for us so that is a big positive for us should all that come about.

Craig Bird is in doubt which is bad for us as he would almost certainly get the job on Ablett. He rips us every time he plays us, much like Judd so I'm not counting this as a certain win for the Swans at all. The way we are kicking for goal I wouldn't be counting anything as certain for us.
