Changes for Round 4

Woahhh relax.

I think Scotland should come in. Carazzo maybe another week in VFL, see how he goes tomorrow. Thornton I doubt will get dropped but him and Russell are possibilities.

IN: Scotland, Carrazzo
OUT: Garlett, ???

We'll need as much experience as we have next week against Sydney, so bringing in 2 of our more experienced players is a no-brainer.

Carrazzo might need another week with the Ants but if he performs well this week I'd bring him in. If not, then there's just the 1 change.

Scotland to come back in as he is an important player for us. Don't underestimate his skills, toughness and leadership down back.

Garlett looked well out of his depth tonight and needs to go back to the Bullants to get some confidence up.

If both Carrazzo and Scotland perform well on Sunday, someone like Simpson could well fins himself back in the reserves. He has been ordinary this season so far, particularly with regards to his finishing skills. His role isn't THAT important that someone like Grigg can't take over.

Will need to watch the game live before i comment but i wouldn't think there would be too many. Does depend on how some people perform this afternoon for the Ants though.

For some F'd up reason, the MC will never ever drop Russell. He may train hard and do the 1%ers during game day, but seriously, I cringe when he has the ball. I've never been a JR basher, but enough is enough.

Simple.....and I mean simple basic skill errors were executed by him for majority of the night. He had a few chip shots that went no longer than 20m and was under no pressure, but apply the pressure and he crumbles/turns the ball over - not good enough at this level.

So expect to see JR in and every other game this season - no matter how bad he plays.

Steven's - not going to whinge as it's his first game back.

Wiggins needs to go for Scotland...at least Scotland can put some away when the going gets tough. Where as Chief misses from 15m out.

OUT's for next week: Garlett, Wiggins, Johnson
IN's: O'hAilpin, Scotland, Yarran

Wiggins out?

I've read a lot of shit on this site but that is right up there with the worst of it.

There is absolutely NO chance Wiggins will be dropped, and there's no chance he should, either.

I cringe just thinking about how ordinary our half forward line would be without someone like Wiggins there.

He's no star but he holds that half forward line together with his constant leading and strong marking. We'd look like a train wreck without him there.

I see your point and I agree with majority of it, but missing a set shot from 15m out does not sit well with me. This was not the first time he has done it either. Look back at the other 2 games he's played and count how many easy set shots he's missed.

Great sticky hands, courage that never ends - but kicking for goal is shocking.

In: Carrazzo/Armfield/Yarran.

Out: Gartlett.

It's all for Carrazzo, Armfield and Yarran to determine with their performances tomorrow. Whoever's the best goes in. ;)

I agree with you about his goalkicking and if you have a read of some other threads on this board I have already raised that issue, citing that exact incident.

It wasn't good enough and had he kicked it, which he should have, we probably would have won the game.

But that isn't nearly enough to warrant him being dropped. Wiggins has been one of our better players this season and tonight was no different. Save for the kicking for goal, he was excellent.

He leads exceptionally well, his hands are incredible for someone his size, he's exceptionally strong and he never stops trying. As I said in another thread, take him out of our half forward line and watch us crumble completely.

Wiggins is extremely safe in the 22 at least for the time being. Not only is he playing exceptionally well (aside from the goal kicking) but we don't have a viable alternative to him.

He's safe, without a doubt.

Out: Chris Johnson, did anyone else not find his kicking in and defensive efforts below par? I remember him completely fluffing one and two minutes later stevo was doing the kick ins.

Really struggling to see why we recruited him. I know we lack defensive talent but please, this guy is average at best.

I love the atmosphere around here...

Few hours after the game... let's bash on all the players that didn't do well..
I mean, really, a lot of people here claim to be able to kick a goal from 15m out. Sure, maybe you could... in front of 70,000 people? Jesus, Wiggins and Cloke miss once and all you do is talk about how they should be dropped...

It's barely even a new day and the first thing that pops into everyone's mind is, who's out this week?
Let's get rid of the crap players, coz you know, we support Carlton only when they win...

Be positive for once!

I was lucky enough to watch this (live in Switzerland, first game I've seen in a while!). But I get up early and listen to all the games on the radio. Carlton are developing. It's frustrating, but have some faith!

Stop bashing every player that makes a mistake. I can't fkin believe that people are saying bad things about Fevola. Are you kidding?!?!?!

DUDE! 15 meters out :eek::eek::eek:

I can check side, snap, banana, drop punt or even torp a goal from that distance at any angle...and do you wanna know the beauty about all this is? He is a paid professional to kick those goals, under that type of pressure and yes........in front of all that crowd. This is what I'm fuming about.

It wasn't his first game!

We lost by 4 - If 'The Chief' had of converted that piss easy goal - we would have won by 1 point and not be talking about this!

No bashing mate. This is a selection thread. It is actually healthy to be thinking about next week and who to bring in. We can't just dwell on this week.

The fact is tho, you have to single out players who didn't perform well. The only way the team improves is to remove the players who weren't up to it and bring in ones who we think are.

It's not "getting rid of the crap players"....its leaving out the ones who don't seem up to it. It's a professional sport, you can't just give every bloke who seems alright another week to prove his worth!

Thought this game will give the "youngsters" a nice bit of experience. They were all reasonable, but went missing for parts of the game, whether that is because they were on the bench i am not sure, but still some good signs from them. Simple fact of the matter is we kicked points, when we should have kicked goals - obvious huh?

I don't think stevens is suited for the sweeper role - i am not sure he is a good enough mark under pressure for that role. I also think garlett needs to become a bit more selfish - it seems that some times he is trying to give it to a more senior player instead of taking the game on himself - uinderstandable because he is young.

Thornton needs to stop whining and cut out the stupid free kicks - sure it was a crap decision - the bumping happens everywhere, but to do it with the umpire a metre away, c'mon.'

Loving the Krueze more and more. Still periods of the game when we looked a bit soft - when we have a crack, we look awesome. Anyway still early days and a few hard losses may put even more steel into the team.

oh yeah, for me

In: Scotland
Out: Garlett

If we have depth as has been touted then we should have 3 changes for next week.

Out: Russell, Garlett, Johnson
In: Scotland, Yarran, Bannister/Carrazzo

OUT-Garlett/Simpson

IN-Scotland/Yarren

I will give you a tip for next week
Thortan wont play on B Hall unless we want to be arrogant again and give him no respect.
If we do this Bazza will kick 6.

Went along last night and kept a close eye on Chris Johnson. Was towelled by Monfries and lost his feet at critical times. 2/10, capped by his 'kick out' in the last quarter when he handballed it to himself. How do you lot rate him after a month?
